Ceronesthes- Everything Wrong with Conan Exiles (And How to Fix It) - PVP Review and Suggestions

, ,

Now about Teimos…IMHO, yes he is Over the top but I think the balance is just make him a hard leveling vs quick and that will balance him enough. Truth be told, Thralls in PVP have been nerfed to near pointless. I haven’t seen a raid depend on thralls, been stopped by thralls, or even players saying they are glad their thralls were there. So the nerf worked and it’s now player driven with thralls being more about the PVE game (and I count the PVE game in the PVP environment because that’s just the way I think…deal with it) . I would love thralls to gain some more ability in defending bases even off raid hours so free scouting isn’t a thing but it is what it is…sorry erjoh moment…anyway Teimos isn’t that advantageous in the new methods just because of the thrall nerf. Sure he is a moderate hitter and sure he has a bazillion HP but does it really matter much when he does like half damage against you and will burn up in the fires of explosives just like everything else? The only thing I have successful done with the teimos is use him as an archer…getting 12 of them and putting them on the anticlimb areas of a hanging base to rain arrows down on those that are trying to raid. Every other instance of thrall defense has met with failure.

I have to somewhat disagree. Thralls in the right hands can be very hard to deal with. Let’s say on a larger scale you have a 10 man clan at your door with 10 thralls. Unless you have an equal number of players and thralls to counter that you are more than likely stuck in your base. Even if you have 10 players yourself and you push out to try and defend you will die (20v10)Thralls did get nerfed but I can assure you a thrall with good siptah armor and a voidforge mace or even a feroxic 2h sword will 2 -3 shot an average player with 500 health. Especially with the current healing system. In my opinion Teimos is a necessary evil. Nobody and I mean nobody wants to spend countless hours leveling a relic hunter or really any other thrall to just have it die in 5 minutes. My opinion is all other thralls should be brought to a similar leveling speed to teimos.(on official pvp) thralls are a unique mechanic doing this will bring all other thralls back on the table. As far as base defense I agree thralls should see some kind of offline buff.

Tessy girl, from what you’ve written on the forums so far regarding PvP and horses, it is hard for me to believe what you say. Because my experiences differ (see my YouTube).

Also the fact that you have not shown anything PvP related except words does not make you more believable.

The lance should only exist to dismount players. It should also apply a debuff effect, that prevents the player from getting on the horse again for 30 seconds. The damage should be reduced to a minimum, so it’s sole purpose is to dismount other riders.

If they all leveled like Teimos, we would actually have server issues as everyone would have all types of thralls chewing up the memory…and I agree that the time spent on leveling thralls suck when starting down that 20 character assault (10players+thralls) but this game does flat out favor the bulked up clans over the little guy. It always has and probably always will.

I believe it’s part of the ideal the design team thought of. You want to equate to the 10 person alpha? Find 10 friends and get to training. The vid hinted at this but didn’t really dig deep into it because most of the issues we have with FC is dealing with this particular problem…the design is so slanted towards large cooprerative numbers that the little guys and gals are just there as scenery or roadbumps depending on these large clans viewpoints. The anti-social just are SOL and the shy may get some extrovert to take pity on them but seriously…if you don’t have a large enough team, you can never hold the alpha spot long in an active server.

This is why I think clan alliance system (where you don’t aggro or damage but can’t open doors or locked items) could be quite beneficial since it can group these smaller clans and solos to a massive fighting force if the goal is united (like fight off the tyranny of an oppressive alpha clan or defending the server from invasions) without risking inventories. Plus it adds another social layer that gets players talking again and you can create nice dynamics on the servers.

Well if you think about it the faster leveling helps the solos and smaller clans just as much. They are already pulled 50 different ways farming etc so making it faster to level a thrall helps them tremendously. A big clan will still be able to level thralls regardless of how fast they level. Small clans still suffer. As far as memory of the game I won’t touch to much on that. The alliance idea is interesting although it would need some limitations because I know bigger clans would probably do the same thing.

True dat.

I have actually started giving up stealh base building because of the HP bar stuff and foundation sweeping still is a thing so I need to get my thrall count up to even have a chance in Siptah.

Now stealth depots…yeah that’s a different story.

Please lets not even mention this…and if possible delete the post. I would rather keep this thread going. FC is aware and has removed threads mentioning what you are talking about. Fix will probably be coming next week…

Ummmm…PLEASE! STOP!

Seriously, do not post this!

Sorry, pvpers need to know whatvto expect as they log in. At least nownthey can prep and not lose an entire base. Silence is acceptance.

But then there’ll just be more thralls everywhere, and imo that’s not something we want.

You and @erjoh are both right though, thralls are not much use in base defence AND Teimos with Siptah gear can kill a player in a few hits, which is not unlikely in a chaotic fight with multiple players and Teimos’s. I’d be inclined to nerf Teimos leveling rather than speed up the leveling of the others.

That way there’d just be fewer thralls around overall, which I think would improve PVP. They’re more of a useful PVE mechanic anyway, to make farming easier. I mean they don’t contribute anything to PVP really, they’re just another card to stack the deck in your favour. Yet another piece of gear to grind out. Official PVP needs less of that stuff and more players getting their hands dirty fighting each other.

Look main problem with pvp it is gear base grind game.

Only way fix is nerf every weapon that takes forever to farm.

Sounds like an excuse to me. Or maybe just making assumptions based on anecdotal experiences or guesses. Spent all night the last two nights PVPing and never saw any signs of this, I dunno how to do it, and I don’t wanna know either. This forum right here is the ONLY place I’ve even heard mention of it. It’s cheater-kiddy nonsense…

I don’t know why you’re saying all this to a PvE-er though.

I get that, but I don’t want this thread locked is all I’m asking.

Same…this has been a very productive thread and I love the input from all sides. I would hate this be squashed because of some other sensitivity topic that is already getting duplicated on YouTube so there is no reason to inform the masses and there were at least two threads this AM that I saw and I drew attention to one of them so it would get noticed by officials. Both threads are gone so the company is in the know. I hope we have an emergency update by Tuesday or Wednesday. So now we can put this side topic to bed and not divulge anymore about it

Agreed, I appreciate the comments of this thread. I actually have learned a lot watching PvP content and reading the forums. I’ve been wanting to jump from PvE to PvEC but unfortunately (last I checked) I can only transfer my character to other PvE servers which is a bummer. I’d hate to lose every knowledge recipe I’ve learned on this character which I’ve had since EA and starting a new one doesn’t seem fun atm.

I reckon you’re basically right but it’s not just the weapons that are the problem. The reason Conan is not as good a PVP game as it could be is that power is heavily weighted towards gear of all kinds. I’ve been saying for years, and Ceronesthes said it in this video with his Rust comparison: we need skill, experience, even luck to matter more! Fights shouldn’t be 100% determined by who has the best gear, buffs and poisons. Anyone who thinks they aren’t and that skill matters has never fought asymmetrically in this game. If a naked barbarian can’t overcome the odds in a game set in the Conan universe, something is not right :man_shrugging:t2:

Anyway that’s my main beef with PVP. The game massively incentivizes farming and crafting to win fights. Because of that it’s too punishing when you die and lose it all, and people quit. I’m not commenting on raiding as it’s not my thing really so I’d just be speculating.

i mean sure that exploit has been around since the gate dupe one regardless of that.

Farming bombs takes longer than farming repair mats. Especially black ice. Insu wood and Steel reins is soooooooooooo easy to mass produce

Yeah, that would be terrible! No thanks! It’s pretty much fine just how it is now in my experience! It might be a different story if it controlled like a pike or something but it’s totally different and fairly well balanced as it stands!

Playing as a solo on one server I totally agree. I think the same thing! But this also looses all it’s weight if you’re in a clan of 3 or more active players - as I am on another server. I’m shocked at how fast things accumulate when in an active group. Maybe it’s just me who is so slow but I go out for 50k rock and after unloading and resting a bit everything is recovered from the last raid I thought should take a week or more to recover from. We lose almost everything in some of these and in about two of my 6 ~ 8 hr. sessions it’s all back. :stuck_out_tongue:

Ayesh.

That was not a short video. This one had to break it up into numerous chunks to watch in it’s entirety.

In basic principle, it is fairly accurate, as this one sees the situation. In the specifics, there is disagreement, but none of it seems off base or delusional. In all honesty, it reads like a common gripes list from the forum.

Perhaps this one’s favourite part was the frustration that several issues are right there to be corrected in the admin panel. The tools are already in place, just unutilized for official servers.

The Monkey’s Paw reference hit right on the nose as well. This one holds back many comments and suggestions out of an abundance of concern that the implementation will be in a manner as bad, if not worse, than the problem.

Take building exclusion zones for example. Until there is a toggle in the server settings or admin panel to ease up on them (so that the solo player or owner of a non-pc server can remove them), this one will despise and rage against any further encroachment.
