Collecting Eggs

The incredible edible egg. It’s used in so many cooking recipes and yet you can only collect them one at a time by hand (as far as I know). Where have you found the best place to be for mass harvesting eggs? The best place I have found are the shaleback nests on the coast in western I5.

I think it would be great if leaving egg producing animals (crocs, shalebacks, shoebills, etc.) in the animal pen would accumulate eggs the same way dung is accumulated. That or have one of the harvesting tools allow you to collect more than one egg at a time.

I swear there is a tool you can use on the nest for more eggs, but it’s escaping me right now. Something silly, maybe a sickle?

Yeah, shaleback beach has been the best site I’ve found for eggs as well. I did see a claim from someone that tools could harvest more eggs, but I never got it to work for me so I figure it was either a different platforms thing or a basic misunderstanding. Production in the animal pen at dung type rates seems like a great idea to me - even when I do harvest a bunch, they spoil so quickly that I usually lose some before I get them back to the fridge.

Edit: Ah - maybe I just never tried the right tool?

It was pick axe, I’ve never tried it (or would have ever thought to) but remembered reading it in this thread:

In EL, You prolly already know but, on the western 1/4 of the map grid, on the northern side of the great divide (rows 9 and 10) there are bug eggs a-plenty. 50 to 60 eggs per run IIRC - with a respawn at the beginning by the time you get to the end. If you don’t wanna fight the bugs get them to chase your mount and your thrall while you steel their eggs and run for home.
