When the FOV is set higher than the default, (for example 90.4 for horizontal) and the player target locks an enemy the combat zooms out and forward effectively removing the view of the actual combat, the player and enemy goes out of view at the bottom of the screen. Also the screen shakes pretty fast and its hard to look at unless you disengage target lock
I will mark this a bug as I am sure it is not intentional
In addition to that the zoom top down view removes the ability to see your surroundings while in combat, this can have adverse effects like falling off cliffs, getting stuck on terrain elements like walls/rocks/trees and not seeing additional enemies approaching.
The higher the FOV the more this problem occurs and this is currently in the beta and live versions.
