I don’t know about you, but I’m still waiting for a new pirate game, sea of tieves not being my visual style and skull and bones being a birth failure and an extremely poor pirate game, I’m still waiting for the arrival of a game worthy of the name for this style of universe, Besides, at the moment, I’m doing the Black Sails series that I enjoy once again.
So, I don’t know about you, but when I see what Funcom did with Conan Exiles, I think it would be a graphic style that deserves to be inspiring and I think they have a perfect recipe to launch a pirate game, A pirate game that we are all still waiting for, I think, knowing that Skull & Bones has been a big disappointment for many, I think many are still waiting for that. Piracy adapting to survival, this is probably the best time to think about it, survival games being in high demand its latest times, go Funcom, I’m sure you could do it! )
Go on, tell me that I am not the only one still waiting for this!! : p
ps: and please, do not make us a game in the style of fortnite, I would clearly not be a customer!
Archeage before getting hit with some heavy P2W style stuff was pretty good for PVP on the ocean. Naval battles there were quite fun.
Though I don’t see similar stuff being possible here. The battles in Archeage frequently had 50-150 players per guild (clan) with multiple guilds fighting in the same battle.
Well Conan spent a bunch of his time being a pirate… but that would be an entirely different game. Would probably want the map size of UE5 for that with land to build on and seas to sail. A fine idea for a CE2.
yes, of course it goes without saying that it will have to be a totally different game/apart from conan a pirate game specific to the pirate universe and nothing else.
On the other hand, if there are slaves, I hope they don’t disappear this time, because this is unbearable in Conan Exiles, because from what I can see from my return to Conan Exiles it still hasn’t been corrected…
I still have my save game floppy disk from the days I played this on Commodore 128. It’s also the game I think I have the most playing hours on Amiga 500. (I admit, in one playthrough I even named my character Conan, although obviously he was a pastiche rather than the actual barbarian antihero.) I even liked the PC remake, but didn’t play that as much.
So yeah, if they were to make a pirate adventure version of Conan Exiles, I’d be interested.
interesting ideas… but can you imagine the absolute explosion when all of the players and their crew fall through the ship on every swell of the ocean? Or, the pirate ships randomly sink.
Think about how well the engine manages to (not at all) smoothly move a player on an elevator then think about the constant motion of an ship…
For the most part, I enjoyed the PvE aspects of Sea of Thieves after I was talked into trying it. But, and this is on me as i’m not a fan of PvP, I couldn’t enjoy the action of other players looking for easy targets and low skill players. And toxic open mic commentary. Yep, I didn’t ‘git gud scrub’ , so I got gone.
I’d be interested in a PvE variant that has the graphics style of CE, with the stability and playability of SoT, without the trolling of PvP.
I did like how they were depicted in Age of Conan around Tortage. Definitely has that feel that pirates should have had before the taint that was disney’s Treasure Island.
Yea, they can’t even keep foundations solid in CE, and people want a Boat? over Water?
No thanks, just make more pirate items (reasonably priced… not that overpriced nonsense in the baz, we used to get that AND more for 10 bucks…).
I have to admit that I hesitated a lot when I came up with this idea for Funcom, because of the unresolved bugs, but Conan’s graphical style got me to propose it, as well as Conan Exile’s really advanced build system, although as for the latter, how should it be in build ratio? That’s the question I’m still asking myself…
would be cool to have a map extention of an eastern coastline from north to south with a few small islands. This would also work for Siptah, just adding a few distant islands.
Swimming would really need a revamp to make using ships/barges viable.
Also, having fish as enemies would be a fresh addition to the combat.
new weapons and armor for under water combat.
Well tbh, the graphics are severly outdated if you just looks at game such as Elden Ring or anything from the last 5 years in the industry.
With that being said though, the engine or the way they make things for this game are at their limits as it is.
The game plays more from something made in Unity than Unreal, the engine needs some severe attention.
Everythng is slow and janky, so i personally would rather they not and just add pirate themes instead of actual boat mechanics.
They can’t even barely keep this game running as it is and imo it’s more a building simulator than a survival game, at least from playing this on console, it’s a lag fest and i don’t mean the server.
I am not pooping on the “idea” of a pirate game or pirate map with player ships, i am just saying i don’t believe i want funcom to be the ones making it.
No offense to them, but CE is the elephant in the room on their quality levels and it just isn’t there either due to limitations of the engine, it’s either at it’s limits, or their lack of quality assurance that is really showing up pretty bad lately and over the years.
