Did Conan just save Christmas? Well, for one family he sort of did. Some of you may know me from CE RP, the roleplaying community discord and website for roleplayers and server owners of roleplaying servers. Anyway, a member of my Discord asked if it would be okay to post a GoFundMe for one of our own who was facing eviction with her three small children on Christmas Eve. She’d lost her job and was still looking for a new one but we all know how that can be. And far too many of us are one disaster away from being in the same boat. The world we live in can be every bit as harsh as Hyboria and a good deal less fun. At that time she’d only gotten a few hundred dollars towards her goal which was not nearly enough. Of course I let the player who asked me about the GoFundMe post it. And then a modder from a large and popular mod picked it up and reposted it to their much larger modding discord. And made a very sweet offer to their legion of fans as further incentive to donate. And this morning the goal was not only met but exceeded by a little bit. So yes, Conan indeed saved Christmas.
But I’m thinking down the line they’re going to need more. Covering rent for a month (and that’s probably last month, not next month) is probably not going to be enough to tide them over until this mother of three is employed again and has a paycheck under her belt and can breathe again. So what I’m saying is… Let’s try to double that. Even if it’s five bucks, it counts. And pass this on to other Conan communities you may be a part of. Let’s see if we can do more than just save Christmas… let’s shoot for giving them a happy new year as well.
And since I don’t know Funcom’s policy about posting GoFundMe ads I’m just going to post the link to my discord. You can find the GoFundMe link in our announcements channel. It ain’t real art and no one can tell me it is… but it IS fun and I’m happy to gift it to those who are kind enough to help out a fellow Conan player.
I am surprised they can evict her during the winter. Eviction during the cold season is forbidden by law in my country. Does she live in Canada? The USA?

They live in the USA, the laws here are atrocious and if it doesn’t line the pockets of the company they don’t care what happens or who it effects…They would sooner see them starving and freezing on the street than try to help.

The U.S. is becoming more and more Dickensian with respect to the levels of inequality and how depersonalized & disposable the wealthy view the masses. Never thought I’d see it in my life time, but here we are…

And before anyone rants in this, let me explain!
In this game, no matter if they called it Barbie, i met wonderful people. My sorrow lies in my sweet Tina these days, that i met in this game, because she fights a stomach cancer. She expects the results of her chemo these days, and i pray to God that everything will be ok.
So i met wonderful people in this game and in this forum! If it wasn’t them, Funcom and devs, this beautiful journey wouldn’t come in to my life. Because it IS a beautiful journey and i feel blessed for living it. As right now i feel blessed for meeting you in here Alexandria, what a wonderful person you are .
So merry Christmas Funcom do know that we love you.

Because it’s Christmas Imma let you slide on that Funcom love… LOL Honestly I do love the devs mostly because it’s pretty obvious they love their game. It’s the accursed beancounters I take issue with and mostly because they make impossible demands on the devs and it’s always money over art. And yes, I know you have to have money to afford art. But that’s a conversation for another day or thread. LOL
So thank you for the kind words, both to Funcom and to me, perhaps their harshest critic. I hope your holidays are wonderful, merry and bright!
