Conan's most annoying things the community hate

Things that annoy in Conan
I’m sure the community will agree.

Thrall and mounts inventory, break bond and follow are next to each other WHY

Capture a Thrall run to the map room, teleport to your base and there is no animation of the captured Thrall ( did it get abducted by aliens lol)

Log into the game wait a minute and the gamma goes pure white and you can’t see anything (hmmm a nuclear sandstorm)

Workbench can’t craft all items only 1 at a time so to make 100 glass flasks take me 14 years stood at the workbench clicking craft, craft, craft…I’d sooner be beaten to death by a wooden spoon haha

On death at night I can’t find my body? The animation is 4 green bubbles floating above my dead body. WHAT THE! Why can’t the game show a better highlight on my dead body.

PVE why do I have to go to my dead body to retrieve the items? Why no one can take them. Let’s Respawn with my items

If I have to collect the items off my dead body WHY do i have to put armour, tools and weapons back into the slots again? Can’t this be automatically done on retrieving the items when I press loot all. This can become a pain if your under attack and ( I’m stood there getting killed as I put honey in my wheel and put on my helmet lol )

Why are enemies by obelisks? I’m being attacked in game but I’m still in the loading screen so when I land at the obelisk I’m dead then I try to get by body by teleporting back to the obelisk and the same thing happens? This is a death loop beat that lol

Horses tap square to mount horse hold square to go into horse inventory Arrrgh how many times have I mounted when I only wanted the inventory hmmm change the mount and inventory button from being the same button and I don’t have to scream at my screen ever again.

Drop an item for a friend and the exile lands swallows all the items and the loot bag disappears into oblivion then I hear the exiles lands imaginative sinister laugh Muhahaha

Why are new workbenches bigger than king Kong. I can’t fit them in my compact base can we have smaller versions or adjustable sizes please.

Healing wraps animation oh no I said it lol ok 1st what’s the point 2nd as I’m wrapping up I’m vunrable to attack which then drops my health lower than it was before because the animation of the wraps takes 2weeks lol and can’t be stopped mid wrap as enemies have a free attack on me. If i run from the enemy to a safe spot my stamina drained I use a healing wrap and the enemy catch up with me so I’m stuck in the wrap animation which freezes my stamina bar filling up and now I can’t run away after the wrap animation and the enemy attack me and kill me. what was the point of even making healing wraps so I’m calling them death wraps ( warning stay away from them death bringing wraps)

Fish traps yep hands up who’s using fish traps ok I see 1 hand up lol what happened in the Devs room the day fish traps was mentioned to be changed? The fish trap is clunky to place down it needs constant insects to get fish they stopped the glitch of placing them in a large well which means we all have to build by water so we are now limited to where we can build if you want fish traps. Why can’t they be put in a well? It’s water it has fish it needs a fish trap lol ( I only used fish for oil it’s easier to make it on the alchemist bench now) fish traps lost forever to that sinister exile laughter Muhahaha

What else annoys you in Conan exiles because I’ve had my rant Muhahaha.

I can’t speak for everyone, but I find your post amusing.
the things that annoy you I really like.
Running back to get armour? game is supposed to be difficult.
As a matter of fact all your points could be countered with “game is supposed to be difficult”
with the exception of the teleporting which I think is a glitch, but I don’t know because I don’t teleport, and the glass flask thing because I don’t make them I take them, the last time I actually made a flask, you didn’t have to be there and as many as there was Chrystal to make would be made, something must have changed.

Make things too easy? I don’t think you speak for as many players as you think.

Thanks for reply. I agree we need some challenges but some mechanics are annoying for me like hit square to mount or hold square to goto inventory and I hate retrieving my dropped loot and having to place each item in each slot Aggggrrrrrrhhhhhh lol

Break Bond probably really ought to be in a menu somewhere. Leave in the Follower tab as a button away from the others.

To be fair, I think thralls on bindings shouldn’t teleport, but drop where the player left. But that’s just me.

I haven’t seen this one. Seen reports, but I’ve not been able to replicate it.

This might be a bug that returned, the old work around is to put two molds in. That worked when it was made in the furnace. Might work here. But it may only allow two to craft at a time. Guess you could put like 10 molds in there and make 10 at a time. Still not how it should be but it can work for now.

Gonna just combine these. The death thing at night seems to be an issue unique to console (I assume you are by the mention of controller inputs later in the post). On PC, at least for me, the dead body lights up the whole area. Its only tricky to find if the area is already lit up.

As for why you don’t respawn with items. This is a server setting. The server you play on has decided to have retrieving items as a bit of a death penalty.

Don’t quote me on this, but I think this might be a feature worked on. But I’m not 100% sure. Can’t hurt to pester about it though.

I’ve been on Siptah for a while, but to my knowledge no new spawns in Exiled Lands have been added near obelisks. This might be from players training mobs.

Not sure if you if you have an ability to remap it. They should add more controller options if they don’t.

Haven’t seen this in a while. But the best way of giving items is an unlocked chest if not in the same clan.

These are designed for larger builds. Those living in little hidey holes aren’t really meant to have them in the same way those who live in the open do. If you’re on PVE, then emerging from under the ground should be fine.

Use Aloe Potions for healing in Combat. Use Healing Wraps for outside of combat. That is the intended use of both.

Fish traps being placed only near natural water sources makes a bit of sense from a player to player interaction point of view. If those in the desert want fish, they need to see those who live near the water. In PVE that means trading. In PVP it means trading or stealing.

But we do need more regional based resources to make this really better. That’s something I’ve been pushing for a while.

As for what annoys me. I would say pretty much anything dealing with RNG. Specific items and specific recipes should be obtained by specific means. The better something is, the harder it should be to get. Not simply be labored after until you’re lucky enough to get it.

But I doubt the community would go for this. Since that would entail things being as rare as they are now through difficulty rather than scarcity. And that can bruise egos.

I agree if it rare then you have to work for it. The healing wraps issue was the animation its annoying and pointless imo. Workbenches being so big is a problem because I like a small compact base and I’ve seen bases bigger than the millennium falcon lol what’s the point of a base that big, it’s not for me. Hey thanks for your reply and tips and the point you made about breaking bond I agree 100%

I must have overlooked or forgotten the “break bond” being too close to the follow.
While it doesn’t annoy me, I agree it could be and has been a problem for some.
So I concede that point.

Pretty sure this was added in 2.4. If they are on console, they don’t yet have the feature but will likely soon.

I recall in 2019 people would have bases everywhere so they could capture thralls and obtain resources. I see less of that these days in comparison. Not sure in 2019 you could teleport with a captured thrall, but if you could, I guess most people did not do so back then. Map rooms were very convenient placed in the world so that was never an issue.

Lets take it one by one to see ur point…
1 ->its ok just do not make something in a rush…
Also why u need to open that often the thrall inventory?

2-> this should not happen at all. U should not tp a thrall , so not showing him i suppose its because of the tp proccess was meant only for character and not captured ones.

3->sandstorms r supposed to be hard af to see through at…i wish in rhe way they r now to have the sandstorm beasts also spawn in there (3-4 at a time) to really make em hard and send most of exiled running for shelter…

4-> u just need more molds in there… If u have 20 molds u can craft 20 flasks at once, if u have 100 u can craft 100 flask and goes on … but who really crafts flasks?? Go to set city to the vendor called flintskin… He sells 10 flasks for each silver coin u have on u, so get a walk into silver mine , gather silver, turn em to coins (same things with molds apply here as with flasks) and go buy as many as u want. It is the easier and cheaper way to get flasks

5-> Craft an improvised torch and u will see the skull mark that is left behind at ur death…

6-> because no telekinetic magic exists in CE . Used to be a way to retrieve loot from dead body , but FC patched it quite some time now… So u do kot have to go for ur things if u carry stuff u can loose and do not mind if u do…

7-> when u know u will be under attack have a weapon / follower with u… sometimes its best to kill enemies 1st and then collect ur body… Use strategy on approach…for ur convience though this has been addressed in pc so be sure its oncoming for consoles as well…

8-> not at many obelisks … mostly by sinkhole and lower jungle u encounter enemies… Build something that allows players but blocks npcs from coming close to obelisk…

9-> even though i agree with u and the same happens to me, horses eventually r meh… So why use horse? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

10-> never happened to me…

11-> use the old improved ones … They will do the job…

12-> healing wraps r meant to be used when combat ends… Use potions they lock u in animation for only 2 secs…

13 → better without traps … We lost too many builds that used to be huge oil factories by beaches/ rivers, so better off without them…

So u will also get used to it i guess :stuck_out_tongue:

I have none of these issues, but I agree that the follow and break bond should be either away from each other or in different menus.

And yes, 2.4 introduced the ability to loot your body and have all your gear return to its previous slot on the hotbar or armor slot.

Not unique to console…It’s unique to PS4. On PS5, I can see my dead body from a grid away. I can see everyone’s body glowing. It’s glorious. It’s my guess that PS4 and XBox can’t see the glow because it doesn’t have the ability of Ray Tracing.

The only things in CE that actually annoys me is that sloping inverted walls are still to this day, years later, a complete and total nightmare that almost never work and the wonkiness of spider hitboxes with certain weapons/attacks.

I agree, the buttons are too close to each other BUT it does offer you an “Are you sure?” option.

I have never had a problem teleporting with a thrall. So it’s probably an issue with your machine’s capabilities. Console will have issues with Conan because it’s just too powerful for PS4 and Xbox. It’s a FAAAR better play on PS5.

Well, if you’re in a sandstorm, it’s supposed to be blinding. Having been through real-life ones when in Gulf War, you can’t see ANYTHING and it HURTS like hell. Heck, it strips paint off of items. lol.

The only bench that has done this is the Casting Bench. However, if you craft one, then select craft all, it will craft as many as possible. You don’t need multiple casts.

You’re on a previous-gen console. It doesn’t have ray tracing so you won’t see the big glowing body loot.

That’s a server setting. Find a different server.

LOL, Wow…lazy much? LOL. When you get out of the Shower are your clothes automatically on? Come on man, when you pick up a pile of material, you should have to search through it to find the items you want. If you’re in a fight, grab your loot and get away from the fight. It doesn’t take long to put on your gear.

Are you talking about NPC’s? If so, you’d have to be pretty low level to get killed by them at the Obs…If they’re live enemies then the reason is…because YOU’RE there. If I’m your enemy, I want to kill you there. If enemies are on, I’d recommend avoiding Obs. Otherwise, there are plenty of other ways to travel and if you learn the map, I can get virtually anywhere in no time with a horse.

Ha…I agree with this one. I’ve jumped on my horse many times at the worst times.

Hasn’t happened to me in a loooong time. However, the solution is simple. Place the items in your thrall or carry a chest with you when you know you’re going to transfer items.

So you can’t HAVE compact bases and get the perks of those benches. If you want to have a compact base, use the basic or improved versions which are still available.

Simple…So people can’t miraculously spam heal anymore AND because when you need to heal, you should have to actually bandage your wounds or drink a potion. Don’t want to die in a fight? Get better at fighting OR exit the fight to heal.

When was the last time you’ve ever seen a water well with fish in it? You don’t because…They don’t. If they did, you couldn’t drink the water. So it makes sense that there would be no fish in a well to catch. As for baiting traps, fish traps need to be baited to attract fish into the traps. Baiting them is super simple if you get your routine down. We just leave compost in the bin and it just keeps creating grubs. Simple.

However, if you want to make oil, it’s best to make it in the Alchemy Bench with bark.

Honestly, the only thing that bothers me about Conan is the offline raiding and the building system. Specifically, how you get no room for error when placing a piece down. If you do, you lose most of your materials.

I would also like to see an improved fighting system…Something like For Honor’s would be amazing.

Because that would be stupid for an official server setting. You’d literally just go out of your base with 50 encumbrance, farm stuff and remove bracelet. Wake up in your bed with all your farm.

Not really the most annoying. But I’d like to see some of my thrall’s become cavalry.

Well, sounds like we’ve found a solution to some players complaining that nights are too dark and wieldable light sources are bothersome.

Step 1. Go to the place that is too dark.
Step 2. Remove bracelet.
Step 3. Return to the no-longer-too-dark place.

Yes, it is. However, in Conan Exiles, “the gamma goes pure white and you can’t see anything”* has been a known issue for a year or so, it’s not working as intended.
If you would like a brighter variant -or any variant, in fact- of the sandstorm, feel free to suggest this in a seperate thread.

*except in some cases, some horridly contrasted textures.

See below reply:

And this other issue, being missing visuals/sound, which began around the same time:

Also cc: @ConanBoDk, who I encourage to post their videos of the sandstorm(s) in a seperate thread. If you aren’t able to post/link a video in your post, get the essential part of the link, i.e. for YouTube, the part usually behind in the URL -you can copy and paste this-. Otherwise, you’ll need to be a little more active on the forums to get this permission (see forum guidelines for requirements).

For context: I play on PC, so anything I say about the current state of the game might not be true for consoles, since they’re still on version 2.3 and we’re on version 2.4 now.

When you teleport while dragging a thrall, if your loading screen ends fast enough, you can see the thrall rushing towards you from very far away and then disappear. The key thing to note is that as long as your toon is still holding his or her hand up with the bindings equipped, you’re still dragging the thrall.

So whatever you do, do not unequip the bindings. If you do, you might get lucky and be able to find the thrall lying unconscious near the place where you unequipped the bindings, after a combination of relogging, running out of render distance, etc. However, most of the time it will be lost.

Bear in mind that even though mounting and dismounting while dragging now works without unequipping the bindings, that’s not necessarily the case after a teleport, so avoid doing that too.

This has been the case for more than a year now. It’s annoying, but it’s just visuals. It has no impact on gameplay. The most popular theory is that this is the sandstorm that blows in during the intro after creating a character, and for some reason it gets triggered on login.

Uuuuuse the maaaaap, Luuuuuke.

Let’s find a private server with that setting, there’s plenty of those. The rest of us like a little challenge

If you’re on PC, that works now. You just look at your corpse until the inventory popup is displayed, and then you press whatever your “Loot All” binding is. I have read reports that this does not work if you actually open the inventory and press the “Take All” button in the UI, but I haven’t tested it.

If you’re on consoles, you should have that feature on Thursday

It’s even worse on PVE-C servers, where other players can (and sometimes will) camp by the obelisks (or Siptah vaults or any other place with a loading screen) and gank people who can’t even see what’s going on. It’s the worst on PVP servers, where players don’t even have to hang around, they can just place a few thralls.

The problem is not that there are enemies near the obelisks. The problem is that the game places your toon at its destination while you’re still inside the loading screen. Funcom needs to fix this, but the only way it will happen is if we don’t let them forget

This one bugs me too. The real problem here is that literally all other followers open their inventory with the tap of the “Interact” binding. So the game trains you to do it like that, it even lets you do it like that with a mount that doesn’t have a saddle, and then, once it’s saddled, it goes “ha ha! dumbass!” when you do that and puts you in the saddle

But still, it’s a minor annoyance compared to some other things.

If your friend can’t see the bag but you can, they should relog. If neither of you can see the bag, then it might be lost, but I’ve never actually had this happen to me or anyone I ever played with.

That’s the idea. Think of it as T1, T2, and T3. So, for example, the furnace is T1, the improved furnace is T2, and the big-ass furnaces are T3. The T3 versions are meant to force you to deal with the tradeoff: either you conserve space but pay more in terms of material cost or crafting speed, or you gain those benefits but sacrifice the space in your base.

You’re using them wrong. Bandages are not meant to be used in combat situations. That’s what potions are for. Bandages are supposed to be used after the battle, when you’re safe. And before you ask what the point of that is, let’s take a look at the alternatives:

  • You could use potions after battle, but they are heavier (almost 6x) and a lot more expensive.
  • You could rely on food for healing after battle, but then you have to be extra-careful not to take any damage whatsoever, not even 1 hp from a short fall you misjudged.

Yeah, I gotta agree with that. I understand that they wanted to get rid of passive resource generation for something as valuable as oil. And I also understand that they wanted to get rid of the fish trap spam. They achieved the former. The latter, though, backfired spectacularly. Instead of 20 fish traps, now you get 20 fish traps and 10+ compost heaps. Or at least, that’s how it used to be for a while, until they lowered the requirement for the oil recipe at the alchemy bench, from T4 down to T3 alchemist.

I imagine they will eventually revisit fishing. And cooking. But they can’t do everything at once, especially now while they’re preparing the official Siptah launch. Sometimes the only thing they can do is look at what they did, realize they goofed up, and fix it later when there’s time. :man_shrugging:

My number one pet peeve right now are the dragons. I’m thinking of opening a bug report about them.

Look, I understand dragons are supposed to be dangerous. They’re not supposed to be easy to kill. But someone went overboard here. They rotate faster than a freaking fidget spinner. To make it worse, many of their attacks hit targets in a cone much wider than it looks, certainly wider than it used to be before. And to add insult to injury, they won’t attack you until you’re in a much narrower cone, they’ll just keep rotating and rotating.

I’m still trying to figure out a decent strategy for soloing dragons and hatchlings. So far, I’ve only managed to figure it out for green hatchlings, because they mostly try to ram you, which is the only dragon attack that isn’t completely FUBARed.

And yeah, I know that an easy strategy for defeating dragons and hatchlings is “bring a follower”. But that’s not my idea of fun. For me, followers are a way to speed things up. They’re supposed to be my sidekicks, not the other way around.

Yeah, but I can deal with that normally. The problem is how that interacts with other things I said. Basically, the dragon will keep rotating until you’re in a position where you have no possibility of evading its attack except (maybe) through a dodge roll. The cone they use to trigger the attack is much narrower than the cone they use to determine if the attack hit you, and the attacks have a very short windup that doesn’t allow you to evade at all.

I noticed something similar to that with a corrupted croc - though thankfully that one seems to not use that really quick non-telegraphed attack as much as normal ones do (which is a relief as the time I did get hit with it it took about 70% of my hp away).
