So after my friend and I put lots of time on a official server, built a few bases and got the best thralls in the game, the “Connection Refused” error showed up and all those work destroyed in a day… There were 2 other Iranian in the server that they got the same error and could’t play anymore like us.
As all the players with the same issue and devs probably know, you can’t even play single player, the only way you can play single player is start steam in offline mode, but you can’t access battle pass and bazaar items you bought before.
I told about this error to one of the best conan content creators named “Anaberiella” and she reported this issue to the support and got an reply from them that was something like “We can’t support this region due to Funcom following official international sanctions”. for short it’s just kinda political BLSHT between countries that always targeting gamers.
I really don’t know if this gonna be fixed or not but if Funcom has problems with any specific country they must put a warning somewhere like steam info for the game or discord so we don’t buy it, not after I bought all the dlcs, battle pass, some bazaar items and put over 2800 hours on the game and suddenly they just ban me.
This error happened before, like a year ago (can’t remember exactly) but got fixed until a few days ago and now here we go again…
And about refund the game, guess what… I can’t! since I played Conan over 2 hours and bought it more than 14 days.
I did contact support 2 times, the first time they said they can’t support my region and the second time they did’t even answered me (the most lazy and useless support team ever)
Also I used tons of VPNs and Dns but no luck. If anyone has a solution for this please let me know, cause I love this game and I wanna play it with my friends again, (If Iranian players seeing this, I’ll be happy yall send me add friend so we play this game after it fixed some day )
Hello and welcome.
I am atristed to get your misadventure. I find it unfair to charge the populations of a country the choices of the leaders of this country.
The sanctions imposed by the USA only affects the Iranian leaders, on the other hand, the people undergo the ages.
I read in your post that you had tried VPN without success, I do not understand that Funcom applies sanction on the basis of political decisions on a game, in which it will punish the Iranian government?
Companies that don’t comply with sanctions and continue to operate can be fined pretty heavily. You also need to factor in sales tax when purchasing items - such as a video game, a certain percentage of that sale goes to the government.
It is very wrong that such political approaches affect children. Many children play video games. and when you ban a country it causes broken hearts. causes sadness. The difference in currency exchange rates regarding game pricing is also very disturbing.
Yes, the world is not an equal and fair place. But in my opinion, it should be should be reduced as much as possible. at least in the digital environment. After all, digital copies have no production costs. There are no raw materials used in production.
When we get back to the main topic. People are affected by politics and political situations, even though they have no say in it. States do something and as a result, innocent people who are innocent pay the price.
It is not right to impose a ban on any country. extremely wrong. You can’t choose where you are born.
Funcom did not ban you. This is an issue with Valve and their Steam platform making the game available when they probably shouldn’t have. You can probably request a refund through them, and due to it being an unique situation, they will likely grant it. That is assuming they aren’t affected by sanctions too. If they are, then you’re an unfortunate victim of the sanctions. The only recourse is to effect change required to lift said sanctions within the country in question.
Well yeah this isn’t a Conan Exiles nor a Funcom issue. The root cause is the politics of the country you live in, which has caused some services to stop operating there (or your country to block them, it works both ways).
VPNs, much like moving abroad, can definitely work for this however I know that totalitarian/authoritarian countries have been stepping up their efforts to combat those, so there are many VPNs that stopped working in Russia, China, Iran etc. (and they share their tricks I imagine). Still I see plenty of gamers from those countries playing all kinds of games on Steam and whatnot everyday, so you know that the workarounds still do exist. Buying things however might prove really complex since PayPal has also been hit, but playing is definitely possible.
