Bug Description:

A clear and concise description of what the bug is.

From the launcher, when I click Launch I get a Crash message stating:
"The UE4-ConanSandbox Game has crashed and will close

Fatal error:
[File:C:\B\tech_exiles\code\UE4\Source\ConanSandbox\ConanSandbox.cpp] [Line:417]
Mounted paks num(203) not equal to expected paks num(201) and (0) optional packs not available. Please verify your installation.

                                                                        OK"

I’ve verified my install files 4 different times, tried editing my Environment Variables in File Manager as suggested by JJDancer.
I’ve also removed all my mods.
I think I may have to do a complete reinstall.

Steps to Reproduce:

Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. Please be as detailed as possible; the more details, the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:

  1. Step 1 Open Launcher
  2. Step 2 Click Launch
  3. Step 3 CRASH! (see above message)
  4. Etc. NO STEP 4!!!

Thanks in advance for any help

I did do a complete reinstall today, and unfortunately the exact same crash exists.

Now go in your pak folder, sort by date and check which pak files have a different date, then delete them, verify and try logging again.

\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Content\Paks

Here is the solution to my problem:

I was given this error today after installing Conan Exiles on my laptop. After scrolling through the paks folder D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Content\Paks I noticed that two of the files had different creation dates than the rest (older dates, probably from when I last had it installed), a pak and its associated sig. I promptly deleted the two files and now my game is running smoothly. As a side note, my error message said that I had 201 paks and it was expecting 200, so I only needed to find 1 rogue pak. Also, for a bit of context, I copied my installation from my desktop, including a lot of mods and didn’t attempt reinstallation or file verification after getting the error. Thanks to Barnaby B. Bean on the Steam forums for this solution!

It seems to happen when FUncom forces an update. Being we are having them every hour. We are being blown to the desk top every hour.
