In SIPTAH is it necessary to have it dark most of the time? All that work with the artwork and you can’t even see it !! There is normal darkness and when the Maelstrom is going it’s dark again, please consider some changes to make your game visibility a joy to be seen, it will save my eyes from the strain!!!
Monitor Gamma? That was my solution. It was needed to play the game with the monitor in HDR 10+ mode anyway. Just a thought.
I’m in almost complete agreement - the lighting on Siptah spends an enormous amount of time in a sort of twilight (every time a cloud goes near the sun, every time you step behind even a small tree etc). But it also spends too much time too bright. For me at least, it’s the contrast between the two extremes and the fact that it often flips between them that is the problem - going from straining my eyes to see through the twilight to suddenly being painfully bright. In the real world, the human eye can adjust to changes in light levels - but using a monitor, the lighting in the room does not change, so the iris does not adjust in the same way.
Unfortunately, for me at least, gamma is no solution at all - just leads to migraines starting quicker because now the screen goes from mild twilight to full whiteout. The only solution I have found has been to stop playing on Siptah at all - it has some fun game elements, but isn’t worth the pain.
This is why I’m going to take this opportunity to once again request Funcom - please, please, leave the lighting in the Exiled Lands alone. Please do not try to ‘improve’ it by making it more like Siptah. Please leave those of us who are prevented by the lighting from playing on Siptah to still have somewhere that we can play.
Yeah, the map is dark - especially under cover of the deep forests. Here’s my gamma correction - on an HDR screenshot ( I think you’ve seen these before though):
- Outside the forest 6PM-ish
- Noon-ish Maelstrom.
- Afternoon, High planes
Yeah, if the switch from dark to light that I experience was just within that sort of range I’d be ok with it - no issues with the redwoods being darker in general than other areas. But the contrast I get is far more aggressive. To try to illustrate -
I’m actually ok with this one, because of where it is - but get almost the same level of darkness in an open area of the map, simply by passing a normal slim tree:
Then, when I come back out from behind the tree, the whole screen goes like this before slowly calming back towards a more normal level (note: this image is actually from a different related (and seemingly more resolved) issue on the EL, but it illustrates the effect I’m talking about):
I think you can imagine why I say this can lead to migraines
Yeah, wow! That top image is kinda like what my screen looks like if I turn HDR off. And guessing by the shadows - maybe close to noon? Goodness…
What are those things in slots 4, 5, and 6 BTW?

Don’t worry, not something you could be expected to have come across - they’re from Age of Calamitous mod - they do things like this :
It’s a fun overhaul mod - but gets quite a long way away from the base game
Is that modded armor, I am a bit jealous. . .
Yeah, that’s from Immersive Armor (with a bit of dye - I think it’s green originally) - that mod adds a ton of great options - especially good with Fashionist, since you can then use that wide range of gear on followers and crafters as well. Come to the modded side - you know you want to (Although, maybe not - since I can’t get a good shot of my Corms right now as I have to wait for a mod update or half my storage will vanish, lol)
