Decay distance have changed?

Hello!
Dont you need to stay on the building or be very close to it to update decay time?
There are one player who is only putting out foundations to claim land and then nothing more, i made a fort wall around this claim to make it decay and then give the land to a new player who might want it. But still the decay time is updating.
You only need to be online now?

I have not played on official for about 6-7 month cause i have my own server.

I know this might have sounded like a reasonable idea at the time, but I’m just gonna say this sounds like the exact same thing you were annoyed with someone else doing. I relate because I’m experiencing similar on another PVE server but playing into the same shenanigans that they do doesn’t necessarily help your case.

As for decay distances I’m not sure how it interacts with two different bases in close proximity but as far as refilling your own base’s decay goes the distance, or so I’ve noticed anyhow, seems rather generous. Especially if all the foundations are connected. Not sure how it works with spots of random 1-block foundations however at least from my experience claim is rather generous. Especially if you have craft tables, and even moreso with decay timers doubled for Summer.

In the .db, the building pieces are all tied together, so it would be possible to have crossing refresh claims. The physical claim that prevents us from building to close together is different. Example: If i build foundations 1-200 in connected line, that makes them all part of 1 object id in .db IF i remove 101-150, then that is now open for someone else to build in on the map. But 1-100, and 151-200 still have the same id in the db when it comes to refresh, so “touching” foundation 1 refreshes all the way thru to 200 again. Would need to test it fully again. Basically one can daisy chain across the map, remove gaps of it from the chain on the map, and still only have to refresh one area to satisfy the refresh timer in the .db for all the stuff originally linked.

Iv never had this happen with building parts but with fish traps, lights, random dishes.

I have several decayed clans items because I did not delete before building now the items share my timers.

As other have stated though if it was tied to original things that might be the case. I always found this to be hit or miss.

I have 2 questions
1st, is this happening to your own server?
2nd if you play official too, why make a greater mistake than the one that is happening?

If someone wants to play this way and you don’t like it, don’t go against him, try to communicate with the player and by giving him a new goal to this game, more teamy, maybe he will stop play selfish… Maybe… Still if he doesn’t, you didn’t make a mistake too, the fault is all his :wink:. Building around him all you do is provoke him to become worst, more selfish, i really hope you get me here.

:slight_smile: ofc i did, i play after same rules this guy seems to have, build and block for other to proceed. But in this case i only block him.

Not happening on my own server, there i would destroyed it immediately, and i have talked to him, i also destroyed some of my earlier foundations so he could keep building. But his answer to my questions are “Since this game is crap and the only thing to do is build i do what ever i want”.
So there is a reason for him to play single mode and build all over the land.

And i keep messing with his buildings as long as i want to ^^

Every single gameplay is respected, even if it is not logical, after all gameplay it is. Do as you wish, ofcurce it is your choice what to do. Still i see no reason for this post to go on, because the only thing i see here is 2 kids fighting in an official server and the one of them is complaining and wants support to his mistakes. Sorry i won’t support you here you are no better, still i will respect the way you want to play because this is what makes you happy and this is gaming all about, so build more, build all the server if it makes you happy, not my problem, it’s all yours my friend all yours.

Now it comes to the earlier talk we had. This is the behavior we both hate in servers and not the wonderful builds. I believe this is a perfect example how some persons destroy the environment of official pve servers and i believe that here we have a closure then :wink:.

To refresh a base you simply need to be in range of it. If it’s within view distance it can refresh, you don’t have to walk right up to it.
Building a wall around a base won’t create a magical refresh-blocking field.

There is also a bug that can leach your decay refresh timer into other people’s buildings if they are close enough, most likely your wall it’s the one refreshing his foundation.

Thats crap, would be nice if you had to stay on your building/foundations for it to update. In PvE the only thing you have to make landclaimers to stop is to build around it so they cant update. In PvP you can destroy the buildings. But since Funcom dont put any effort in making it balanced i have to live with it when playing on Official.
