Hopefully I’m not asking a question already asked/answered many times.
When it comes to decay, I’ve noticed that sometimes you have to wait for the decay timer to hit zero (and even in that case you have to leave the area and come back for it to actually show in decayed status) but other times items will show as decayed when they still have hours left on the timer (I think I’ve even seen +20 hrs left). My gut feel is that it is 50/50 between those two examples.
Any thoughts on how items show as decayed even though they often have hours left on the timer?
The decay timer is how much time a structure has before it enters the “decayed” or “abandoned” state. The abandoned state lasts for 24h. During that time, anyone can demolish that structure, even if they’re not in your clan. Also during that time, any player from the clan that owns the structure can refresh the decay timer to its full length.
So what you’re seeing is a structure whose decay timer has reached 0 and it entered the abandoned state. That’s why it says “Decayed” in red letters when you’re looking at it.
Yeah I understand the basics. What I meant is that I sometimes see structures go into the abandoned state before the decay timer has hit zero.
Recently we have been seeing the opposite. The decay timer hits zero and sometimes the structures immediately show as “decayed” (at which point we can demolish them) but more often than not it can take up to an hour more. We’ve tried leaving the graphic rendering area, logging out and back in, etc with no change.
Long story short, just seems a bit hit or miss when structures actually enter the decay status in regards to the decay timer.
Can you explain how you know that? Were you standing there and looking at it, so you noticed that one second it said it had X hours (without the red “decayed” tag) and the next second it added the “decayed” tag? Or did you write down the current time, the readout of the decay timer, added them together, came back a few hours before that moment and noticed the red “decayed” tag? Or was it some other procedure?
That’s an old, annoying bug. I’m not sure whether it has never been fixed, or it has been fixed and then a regression happened. Unfortunately, I don’t have any useful advice regarding that – you’ve already tried everything I could think of.
The decay being stuck at 0 is a old bug. It normally fixes if everyone in the area goes away completely for the area to re-render (hope i am making sense here) or if you log off and log back in away from the area.
I have given up on tracking decays because it hits 0 then your waiting around like a fool then other people find it and prolong it because they don’t understand why its stuck at 0 either
for me the decay timer works like this , when the decay timmer hits 0 ( and no one is near ) the base swap to the decay mode , when decay mode starts , the base has 24 hours ( maybe doubled with holidays timmer ) in decayed state before vanishing , so the decayed state adds another 24 hour to the timmer we all know of 166h(or 335h on holidays) to let people loot said base. maybe you mistaken the time they had left with the decayed state timmer ?
One is the 168 hour (or however the server is setup) where its commonly refreshed by someone logging in and interacting with it in someway (opening something, walking over, etc).
The other is the decayed timer as others said is about 24 hours. This is a sort of grace period. The owner can hit it with a repair hammer to restore it (or that’s how it used to be). But once this timer is over, the structure will begin taking damage until it is collapsed (again this is how it used to be at one point, I’m not 100% sure it still is, it may simply collapse at this point).
