Dedicated Server + Speed Multiplier = HORRIFIC

Ok, so I just got the game, been jacking around with it. Made a dedicated server in house, started it and made myself admin remotely through my client PC. First thing I did was change the speed in the admin panel (5000, 1000 or 100, doesn’t matter.) Horrified, my first steps in the game are skipping like crazy, like severely ugly and miserable. This does not happen if I host coop/singleplayer locally.

Is this an issue everyone sees, can you verify it for me so I’ll know and quit wasting my time? Hopefully, I just screwed up in the settings somewhere. I did try tickrate 60 and 100. but that didn’t resolve the issue.

The game looks great and I’m ready to play, but I need speed running on MY dedicated server because that’s how I roll. Please tell me there is a solution and not just some janked up excuse like engine limitations and thus the reason there are no horses either.

It works well enough at fairly reasonable speeds between 1 and maybe about 10 (in my experience), faster than that, and I don’t know how you would even be able to control your character anyway. You’d just spend 99% of your time face-planting rocks.

Use the console command “slomo” in admin mode.

slomo 1.0
This is the normal speed of the game.

slomo 2.0
This is double the speed of the game

slomo 0.5
This is half the speed of the game

Caution: It affects everything on the server, including other players.

Thanks for the suggestion and it doesn’t quite skip like the speed multiplier. However, this speeds up the entire environment which is something I do not want. I want to run fast in the natural setting.

Even a speed multiplier of 3, 4 or 5 in the admin panel shows severe skipping. Why is this, can it be fixed and do other dedicated server admins experience this as well?

The stutter and skippng you experience with this speed multiplier is exactly the issue why no fast mounts were introduced.

It is an issue with the world and all the details. The chunks that get loaded a really small but plenty, which slows down the game due to reloading a lot.

A Funcom developer described it more throroughly in one of the earlier dev streams.

‘slomo’ has the best performance, but yes, affects everything in the world.
