Developer Stream Recap: August 4th, 2022

Apologies, this one refers to the content of the stream.
This one didn’t like all of what was said, but is overall very pleased. However, that mild displeasure was intended to be understated. The little details this one would have preferred but did not play out in the Livestream are the point of that.

That was not meant to be a critique of your benevolent and well crafted summation. Quite the contrary, as far as annotations go, it hit as many of the points (and all the main points) as was possible in a post that wasn’t going to take as long to read as the stream would to watch.
Gold star.

It would appear that just as I thought I had a sound understanding of a Battle Pass, how it is structured and what it involves, the concept has got the better of me again. And I now have an additional question for either Multigun, a CM or anyone who would like to take a shot at explaining it for me. So here is my question.

Could someone please explain to me exactly what the ‘chapters’ of the battle pass are? My previous understanding was that there will be a new Age (or season) for each battle pass, beginning with the Age of Sorcery. Each battle pass would last approximately 3 months, and would contain around 60 items which would need to be unlocked before this period of time has elapsed. Could someone please tell me exactly what chapters are and how they would function in regard to the battle pass?

PS- a great big thankyou to Multigun for the Recap!!

As I understood it from the stream:

Each chapter (content update) gets its own battle pass (3 months).
An age consists 2-3 chapters (So an age lasts 6 - 9 months, so one big update a year)

I hope I got it right. Otherwise I would ask for clarification

Hi there @Dark_Overlord and thanks for the reply. Ok I think I understand what you are attemptimg to convey here, so I shall take a stab at it.

So basically it is not 1 battle pass per Age but rather around 2-3, and ‘chapter’ is merely a term used to denote each of the battle passes for that Age. Thereafter a new Age will begin with its own number of battle passes, i.e.-chapters. For yourself and any other readers, does this sound correct, or has poor old Croms_Faithful misunderstood?? It is entirely possible that I have again failed to comprehend it. I have never used a battle pass before and trying to grasp the concept has been a process.

My son played with battle pass in fortnite a lot! I didn’t yet I pay them :rofl::rofl:. In fortnite the battle pass was retrievable, what I mean, you pay it once and at the end of the battle pass you take coins back to gain the new one! So even if ten battle passes will continue buying just the first one you will always at the end have the coins to buy the next one and so it goes on! The “tricky” part goes with the store and the cosmetics!!! Cosmetics are decoration so if you spend your coins in decoration then you’ll probably have to buy more coins and at the end you’ll have to buy your new battle pass again with real money now, not coins :joy:. It’s just what @Narelle said in another post, how far your credit card can go . Yet we know nothing yet. We all have fears for overcharged items or whatever, let’s wish these fears will prove wrong. Yet again we can always “complain” for over charging when the time comes and we all know that people here listen and this is very encouraging!!!
Another aspect of the battle pass was the sell back option! You took something that you don’t like and you sell it back to take back your digit coins which is awesome!!! I really hope this feature will work in this battle pass too. And this is actually the reason they had to stop trades of dlc pieces, because people would abuse this system. What I mean, I buy this decorative, I fix one hundred of it and then I sell it back to take my coins back, but I have stucks of it. No since you don’t own the right to have it you won’t be able to use it as well which is correct, isn’t it?
I hope I cover you my master .

Chapters are minor updates that are part of the Age and expand on the major update as a whole. So we will start with the release of 3.0 with chapter 1 and then get 2 more updates with new spells or other sorcercy related updates. (These updates/chapters may then be called 3.1 and 3.2) These updates are then always accompanied by a new Battle Pass and will fit thematically to the current age.

Correct. An Age is 2-3 Chapters in length. Each Chapter will be 90 days in length, give or take, as the dev team has indicated there can be some variability there depending on the situation. Each Chapter will have a new Battle Pass. Each Chapter will fit the theme of that Age, in this case, Sorcery.

Ok I think I am now much clearer on how the chapter aspect of the battle pass works. I did not realise that each age would last some roughly ~6-9 months. But that does not dissapoint me either. And with the benefit of hindsight, I can see that a new Age every 3 months would be pretty ambitious. At this point I am still ok with the battle pass and looking forward to trying it out.

That is no problems for me stelagel, as I have good impulse control, and something of a discerning eye. But no doubt there will be plenty of goodies on the Bazzar I will want to purchase. And if they ever happen to put and Crom decorations on the Bazzar, I will buy them regardless of the asking price!

Also pretty darn cool and offering good value and choice for buyers.

Thanks for helping to clear this confusion up for me @Dark_Overlord, @stelagel and @Multigun.
