They just stand still unless i’m directly standing next to them or within close Line of Sight? Also they don’t appear to Harvest when i’m offline.
This either seems to be a bug or unintentional behavior. Seems rather redundant having them set to harvest automatically if you have to be next to them for them to harvest. Since i could just simply harvest the trees myself qicker without having 5 golems standing around doing nothing.
It’s intentional behavior. Well, “intentional” in that this is how it’s currently designed at any rate. I’m not sure if they have the desire to change it or not.
They don’t harvest unless you’re somewhere nearby. You don’t have to be standing right next to them, just somewhere in the general vicinity. So you can, for example, set a few up near your base and while you’re poking around your crafting benches, they will gather nearby resources. Once you set out on your journey and your base is no longer in sight, they will stop.
Sure do. So long as you’ve told them what to harvest and that resource is somewhere near wherever you put them at any rate.
I had one I told to harvest stone while I was trying it out. Set him to guard just outside my gate, and he wanders around picking up the little rocks and the few boulders that spawn around the area. It was just a stone golem and he doesn’t gather very quickly, but hey, it’s still passive resource gathering. Every so often I would check his inventory and pull out four or five hundred stone.
It looks like they will only “activate” in harvesting mode if a resource they can gather is within about 10m of them. Otherwise they just hang out. That said, if they keep finding resources near them, they’ll actually wander pretty far from your base before coming back home.
