Dune reviews are deceiving

If you have played it for 100h at this point, you’ve run out of content. Pretty sure that is causes the downturn in positive reviews. Especially the PVP disappointment. And people who have played more than 100h to this point went into it with exagerated expectations, imho. Why else would you play it for 100h in 2 weeks? People work less hours in 2 weeks, usually.
But yeah, it definitely is not the second coming of Jesus Christ.

Yes, I wonder why would anybody flag a post about Dune in the Conan Exiles general discussion category  very curious

Except that people were happy to leave the ā€˜pro-Dune’ thread going without flags for days on end. Sure, I’d rather not see any threads about the wrong game in what’s left of this forum, but for balance, if pro-Dune is fine, then anti-Dune should be equally fine.

Well, that’s on the people obviously, I have not seen any of those as I haven’t been checking the forums lately
However, it also could be that there was something else right in that thread that wasn’t right in this one making this even more off-topic? :man_shrugging: wouldn’t know since as I said I haven’t seen those.

I don’t particularly think this thread here was ā€œanti-Duneā€ to be fair, in fact it’s something that may have even been considered off-topic on the Dune forums since it was talking about Steam reviews..

But if we go with the anti-Dune angle… then that makes me wonder.. where does that leave OP?
Cuz you know.. while slightly childish, it’s one thing to name your account ā€œFCCantProgramā€, it does show the intent with which one creates their account, but it’s whatever.. fair enough!
It’s again another thing to criticize the game this community plays, cuz you know.. not everyone likes everything and there’s always people who will complain even if you make the best game ever (not saying Conan is), so again, I would call that fair enough!
However, when you make a weird-ass offtopic post about another game, just because it’s from the same company.. and you have to literally resort to some very reaching theory about how to ā€œproperlyā€ filter steam reviews to somehow make it fit your company-hating agenda more… and then you double down and edit your post so it’s visible again.. I’d say that’s when you’re starting to graduate into basement-dweller weirdo territory

So while in my case I mostly just think it’s off-topic, perhaps other forum users felt like the above somehow makes it worse? idk

There will be 100% people complain about GTA VI.

Just let this thread die.

They are too scared to make a section for Dune here on the forums.

I also made this thread to see if they still moderate their forums. By the looks not really.

Do they have a special Dune place for that? I did look earlier out of curiosity and didn’t find a Dune category on these funcom forums. I was assuming they just did it on some extra special new website so they’re not mixing it with past projects

yes dune is enjoyable for 100h, and no more, and after those 100h every conan players discover that in fact there is no pvp in dune, you can extend your gameplay to max 300h and after good bye. in meantime conan offered me more than 15k hours of gameplay, may be they forgot something in doing dune.

In any case, just to put the original thread in perspective.
When was the thing released btw? 5th of this month I think, so… ~18 days ago? For Early access, the full release being on the 10th.

That’s 432 hours since EA… so..are we really expecting the ā€œmeaningfulā€ portion of reviewers to have spent about a third of their waking hours playing Dune? Like literally if we only count 8 hours of sleep without any ā€œpreparation / waking upā€ time included, that would be 288 hours left…

Somebody having 300 hours in the game at this moment would have had to quite literally play Dune from the moment they wake up till the moment they go to sleep and still skip on some sleep :joy: .(or be a content creator with beta access)
And if we actually count from release, that’s 312 hours total and 208 awake hours, meaning they had to have spent at least half of that playing Dune…

I personally don’t think there’s enough people yet who qualify for that to be even mildly statistically relevant if we’re trying to determine what the ā€œrealā€ reviews are  Perhaps in a couple of months that might be more relevant. or if there’s statistics on how many people have changed their review from positive or negative after playing more hours.

You and Funcom both. Since the game that must not be named (or @Beharion may slaughter me too  ) was released, not a single bug report for CE has been acknowledged (CMs have entirely stopped their previous once a week, five minutes of effort), and there are also several threads reporting that no one can get any response from the official Help desk either (helpshift not zendesk). I can understand that some like to point out a new release is an ā€˜all hands on deck’ kind of affair, but we were repeatedly assured (some might say lied to) that the new release was a separate team and no-one was removed from CE to handle that. They didn’t appear to be making much effort before. Now they appear to have abandoned even that little pretense.

(Obviously, this isn’t a criticism of you, players should be free to come and go - it started as a mild joke and turned into a bit of venting… Guess maybe I’m a bit sick of this company and its repeated claims to be doing one thing only to turn out to do the exact opposite… I think maybe it’s my turn to not bother showing up for a while…)

Oh I see! I didn’t know, but I did see they have fancy dune discord tags in their names now  Maybe once things chill down a bit they’ll remember Conan exists too lol, but yea, that’s unfortunate.
As for me, I’ve been playing another game recently and while I do keep an eye on the modding discord and try to answer things when I can, I haven’t been around the forums much, just occasionally checking in.

They have a Discord.

Yup, and I went from a top poster to quit because I got sick of them making me feel like the foster kid in the basement paying for the golden sons new braces.

Ya think maybe when that golden son starts making money you could patch the cracks and kill the rats, spiders, and roaches?

With a little insight in mind:
Imagine what an official forum would look like at this point.
I don’t think it would be very pretty, even less flattering.

I guess a discord is easier to handle, especially when it requires phone verification.

You ever actually tried to carry on a conversation on a gaming discord.
Defines cacophony. Which is the point, its easy to ignore posts when the fly by faster then tiktok dance videos.
