“Pak file comupt or tampered with. Please use steam option verity integrity of game files to repair game install. Exiting” - The game crashes with this error.
Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:
I had been having this a lot lately as well, and I finally got fed up with it last night.
The way I fixed it last night was to backup my configuration files and saves, Shift+Delete the install folder for Conan, and then perform the validation. Because all of the game’s files had been deleted, this forced Steam to redownload the whole 53+GB, plus mods, at which point everything finally worked normally again.
Initially, I checked the integrity of the game files, after which I found a certain number of faulty ones. Then, after replacing, I go into the game and there the same thing. I decide to reinstall the game, restart it and do the same.
Sorry, but I can’t insert lines from the logs here, because of the forum rules, which technically prohibit this. As for the error, I just ran a test of the RAM, and it may be faulty Most likely this is what caused the error.
Not sure what forum rule you’re referencing, I see folks post excerpts from log files all the time. I do so myself with some frequency. In any event, if it’s a RAM or HDD/SSD issue, that could certainly cause such problems.
Good luck regardless, and let us know if swapping RAM fixes it or not (might still require another install/validation after resolving such an issue).
Are you using Mods?
Mods are *.Pak files too.
Try looking in the conansandbox/mods folder and deleting the modlist.txt file
this wont uninstall the mod just stop it from loading, then you can add them back one at a time to find the Pak file that is causing the error.
