Bug Description:
Challenges can be exploited via admin by spawning NPCs to kill.
Bug Reproduction:
I’m building a world with quests. I was testing a boss and every time I killed him, I would get credit for my challenge. I received a 10/10 for killing imps and was rewarded experience for my battlepass. This seems like it can be used as an exploit.
You mean the challenges which can’t be completed cuz you lost the connection with their server for no reason and when you restart completed challenges are gone and replaced with new one? Those challenges?
I’m not trying to start a debate about battle pass and challenges. I’m just an honest gamer that sees an exploit and wishes to report it. You pay $10 to do challenges and get rewards. I get it, they are boring and repetitive. At the same time, it’s not fair to exploit the idea and not tell about it. Just trying to be a good gamer.
Good gamers don’t complain. They spend money these days :). I mean they shouldn’t lock something you buy behind the wall at all. If you think about it. You buy quests ?!? I remember some of the game had quests for free back in days.
Basically what you’re saying is, I pay $10 for battle pass, log in to my server and spawn mobs to finish my challenges? What’s the point of having a battle pass?
IMO this is inconsistent policy regarding exploits. Just like farming for Szeth’s Truncheon by going in and out of the Wine Cellar to constantly get him to respawn… and like placing a bedroll roll down so that one doesn’t have to “travel” to get back to their body in the event they die.
I pay some money to support devs and get some fancy stuff for it. BP is NOT a competition of any kind. If you like to make it honest you’re OK. If I like to get some new stuff just like from paid DLCs not buying levels I’m OK as well. If someone can buy all the levels and get all the stuff for money this person is OK as well. It’s not about achievements, it’s about additional content.
Yup… After about BP level 30 or so I started doing this myself. Thirty levels is well over 100 challenges if you only do the XP boosted ones and more like 400 if just go straight through. I’ve done a combination of both - I do all the boosted ones and then a few extra to make it an even two BP rewards.
FC has always allowed us to cheat ourselves in such ways. It’s part of the definition of a “sandbax” and they have kept true to that. They’ve even designed and added an entire new system that allows us to bypass all material requirements for building - and are allowing us to to also bypass all stability limitations. The single-player admin spawning and teleporting challenge completion is a godsend! Especially given the current structure and selection of challenge activities! After about level 10 or 15 there are no more unique challenges and chances are you will have done many of them three and four times. It will be a major bummer if they block that SP animin avenue!
It might also be worth adding that Dennis (the lead designer) publicly acknowledged this would be a possibility on two separate occasions - just that I know of.
But why? If you do only boosted ones there are usually 2 for 30 XP (x10 = 300, i.e. 600 XP) and 1 for 40 XP (x10 = 400 XP). So you get 1 level for 3 challenges, 180 challenges for the whole BP only grinding stone, defeating crocks and gathering some Lotus. If you can do rare and legendary ones you’ll get 700 or even 1500 XP for each boosted one - and you may reroll challenges if you do not like them.
I dunno… maybe I’m doing it wrong… But I stopped counting when I completed the entire row of five challenges boosted and normal, 25 times (that’s 5x25=125 challenges) - which got me to about level 30 or so.
