Fatal Error immediately on hitting 'Launch' in Funcom Launcher

Basic Info:

Platform: Steam
Issue Type: Crash
Mods: Tried both with and without mods enabled

Bug Description:

After a forced Windows update (KB5049622) and Security update (KB5050009) I’m no longer able to play the game. I will get to the Funcom Luncher, hit Lunch, a few seconds will pass and the game Fatal Errors. Everything was playing perfectly fine up until my pc updated. I’ve tried reinstalling, verifying files, full restarts, but the error persists and I’m at a loss on what to troubleshoot.

It is possible that as with the issue they have identified with regards to Roblox that this is an unintended side effect of these updates.

Whilst you are able to roll back some updates, servicing stack updates cannot be rolled back, for this you will have to restore your pc to a time before the updates were released.

You could always try this first before restoring to an earlier backup, these tools are inbuilt into windows and are ways for the system to repair itself.

When getting a fatal error notification, your best option is to choose to submit the report (whenever possible).
That report with all the relative data goes directly to the ones who know what to look for.

You mean this

Not like I’m playing but was having serious lag issues with 7D2D, so thought I’d check a different game, and got that.

Thank you for your response, sadly it’s not the same error. I’ve been submitting reports with it each time it occurs.

Thanks for giving me some options. I’ve already tried rolling back the last update to no effect and sadly don’t have a back up. I’ll try what you suggested, but if that doesn’t work I may need to reset of the laptop completely.

Windows has an option to restore to an earlier image this has been for along time but is has been made easier since windows 10.

The first option you can try and will keep your files

I lucked out and a restart fixed it.
