Fatalities are Not Functioning as Intended since Age of Heros: Chapter 1

Bug Description:

Fatalities have gone haywire since we launched the Age of Heros Chapter 1. There are a few issues connected to them now which are as follows.

I) fatalities are now initiating much, and I mean MUCH easier than beforehand, which might sound like a good thing, but they are proving disruptive to the flow of combat and landing us in dangerous situations due to the lack of control.

II) fatalities were designed to activate using the Heavy Attack button. However they are now activating using any attack button, including the Light Attack, and even the Kick button! And meanwhile, not certain if it is intended to have one, but I have never been able to activate a Bow fatality.

III) finally, fatalities which involve a dismemberment; such as one handed axe, mace, daggers, claws, katana, are not actually succeeding in dismembering adversaries. While the fatality animation plays out, the head or torso remains attached to the body and there is little or no blood spray.

All 3 are issues currently affecting Fatalities. And at the risk of being presumptuous, I suspect all 3 are not intended by design or change intention.


Bug Reproduction:

  1. enter a humanoid enemy into a dazed state.
  2. notice any attack button will activate the fatality when pressed, and FAR easier than normal.
  3. watch as heads and torsos remain attached when they should be severed.

Addendum- this aspect is a little more impassionate plea and QOL suggestion. I personally thoroughly enjoy fatalities and they can add great strategic value to the game. But please, please, please, consider remapping the button to initiate a fatality to an alternative button, such as the □/Interact button (we dont need to pick plat fibre whilst in combat).

So, you just need a way to remap the ‘initiate fatality’ button from ‘heavy attack’ button? I use the interact button a lot, so I wouldn’t want to move that away from my blind button pressing. I think the remap is a solution.

Completely agree. I think you got down to the nitty gritty here that I wasn’t seeing.

I think it is great that fatalities are there and I don’t want them to go for people who enjoy them as a new feature. However, they have been a pain in my backside since launched, it is really is due to the mapping past and present.

Re-mapping is the answer for everyone, those who like and dislike.

While we’re at it, let’s make it a keymapping choice too.

it didn’t happen all the time but impossible to open the shortcut wheel with L1, my character knows kicks as if I used L2
new attempt at this moment, console crash…

to crouch it’s complicated, a single press on triangle can make you use your weapon or your torch…
same with the square key, to pick up or open the menu of the following…
there are errors in interpreting the commands

I haven’t had so many crashes since the last update

Hi Dana, thankyou so much for your reply. Music to my murderous ears my good fellow. I genuinely loooove my Fatalities in Conan Exiles. I miss those treasured head and torso dismemberments and I cannot wait to see them again.

Can you upload photos and show us how to remap?

Did it work at least? Can you battle with multiple npcs without a freaking fatality destroy your combo and your battle efficiency?

It works for me. The fix is further optimization (and to get over win10). I would also say it needs to be a pre-emptive kernel that executes the application on client or server, like a vm or cluster. I know that means knowledge of the kernel and how to compile it. Don’t worry about when it is pre-emptive or not. If you have linux/wine platform, then it might be. A profile of the damage is better on hand.
