This last year was suppose to be for bug fixing. An entire year. I think we all agree and appreciate the effort, but it’s fallen a bit short of expectations for an entire year. This given the fact that content has been limited, and mainly geared towards Bazaar items.
If you want more people buying form Bazaar then make more content. It’s obvious the more game content there is the more players will want to buy into the game.
Where are the news for 2026? Can we expect a new expansion or dlc or something? What’s with the silence…
I mean, new content would be great, but stability is what Conan Exiles really needs right now. Most people I know don’t want to play on private servers, they want to interact with strangers, make friends, and build communities. But the official servers just aren’t working at all (most of them, at least).
On the server I play on, many players have bought everything from the Bazaar (Except the new items) and all the DLCs, but they’ve stopped spending because they don’t know if the servers will stay online or suddenly go offline again.
On top of that, the help center just redirects you to this forum, where you rarely get answers… other some people just desperate for attention.
Siptah is a buggy mess. It crashes way too easily compared to the Exiled Lands. We need a new map that isn’t shrouded in darkness all the time, dependent on PvP to carry the endgame, and has lots of POIs to explore. Essentially, an Exiled Lands 2.0 map (maybe an ‘alternate reality’ created from ‘too much magick’ or whatever lore reason Funcom decides to go with).
The Isle of Siptah is my favorite map. I play there 95%+ of the time because it has more to do like the Leyshrines, there are 14 Vaults, more lore, the Maelstrom, and the Pools of The Grey Ones. It’s also the only place in the game that has pages from the Book of Skelos.
siptah is not new, and just becuse siptah is their dosent mean they cannot make more.
and beside that the mealstrom is the worst thing about the and allso how the map is, and allso how the map is made is so bad, that dosent mean i dont like the biomes and the lighting in the map.
What is possible is for there to be multiple maps that “fit” together to make one big world and going from one map to the other could have a transition mechanic like going into the Midnight Grove, a dungeon, or a Vault.
Large distances cause physics simulation issues in Unreal Engine. The engine can manage a maximum world size of around 8192x8192 units, and larger maps would lead to performance problems and unstable gameplay. A world the size of the Hyborian Age map is not possible at this time. This brings to mind the fact that a lot of what people say they want with games does not consider the technological limitations. Imagination does not fit into reality with everything.
The Map was reworked, Just not really noticeably, The EA map was just the desert, you can still see where the old green wall was. Then the “Frozen North” was opened, the second Biome.
Then the entire map was reworked to allow mounts, the original terrain blocks were too large because the increase in speed a mount would provide would cause the next block to not load fast enough so people could run off the map. Then the “swamp/jungle” Biome opened.
Then Siptah was added after the Tencent takeover.
Most of the change was subtle, I had a single player save I started day one, that I never wiped, up until it could no longer load because of changes to the map.
@darkpower I hear you and I’m glad Siptah was not a total loss. I can’t play it (maybe because of a mod interfering or a glitch in the map itself); its been a frustrating experience. But I do like the Vault system and the Pools of the Grey Ones. I like the ‘concept’ of the Maelstrom, but not how it darkens the whole map everywhere. But I definitely agree with most of your observations.
@Hiveshadow I agree with your Hyboria map choice; that would be fun to explore. The size might be a problem but it is a nice design.
My favorite part of Siptah was being able to rescue thralls (that was later added to the Exiled Lands). Being able to play the ‘hero’ rather than some ‘slaver’ just felt right for the Conan lore.
GW2 has a huge map with multiple regions individually equal to or greater than the Exiled Lands map among a few other mmo games (more than 25 sq miles not including individual instances). You can say there is a similarity between those maps and the map of Hyboria. They have a way to do it that this game does not have available with its current limitations.
I can however pull it off in my own simulator project by changing over to a more robust DBMS than the one currently in use that’s the same as this game uses.
Those units you mentioned “8192x8192” represents meters. (or approximately 25 square miles).
Even as it stands, the Exiled Lands has a large area northeast of center (East of the volcano) which has never been used and from my personal observations and experimentation within that area it is useable with the current setup. Good enough for another biome if anything.
But accomplishing anything resembling the vastness of those MMOs would undoubtedly mean Exiled Lands would need a thorough revamp which will not likely ever happen.
Ok. Anything made with Unreal Engine has to fit in the space of 8192x8192 units. That’s the limit of the software. It is technologically impossible otherwise. It can be simulated (made to look as if it larger than it is per instance), but not actually done with Unreal Engine.
That is true. Both maps Exile Lands and Siptah have unused areas that can be further develop to expand the map.
Exiles lands has almost 1/5 or 1/4 of unused map to the North East as you mention. Its a BiG area with lots of space an potential. I can’t see why they would leave this out if not for a future expansion. Siptah also has miles of water surrounding it. Can make some large isles with Dungeons and different biomes. There is no snow or deserts on Siptah.
