Floating/falling on first connection to server

Game mode: Online private
Type of issue: Bug
Server type: PVE
Region: America

Old bug - the issue where, when you load the client and connect to a server for the first time, then you can find yourself “falling” when multiple foundation/ceiling tiles/stairs blocks do not have proper collision due to improper loading.

I’d just like to touch base on this issue with @Ignasi and see if there is any ongoing investigations into it or if it has stalled out (or - worse - has been decided to be Won’t Fix), because this crops up literally every time I load into the game.

If y’all can put some attention to this and fix it once and for all, this would be such a Quality of Life improvement for the entire game community.

Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:

Load client
connect to server - floating on random blocks in the base
disconnect
connect to server - collision is fine

Hey there,

Our team is aware of the issue, but given its complexity a fix for it has been postponed in order to make room for other fixes. It is not a won’t fix and it will be reprioritized in the near future.
Thanks for the feedback.

It’s been a ongoing problem on Ps4 also. Takes logging out and back a couple of times. Happens more often in my wife’s game than mine. I am connected with fiber optic cable hers is wifi.

I think it used to be worse before the last few updates and hotfixes but it has always happened to me. Sometimes I used to have to log out and in 4 or 5 times to get it to stop.

This happens a lot to me, the only way i’ve found to “fix it” is to move away from my base and reload it.
I have my game installed in a hdd, i thought that installing it in a sdd would help but i don’t know yet.

Same as above, its now SOP

moving the game on an SSD definetly helps reducing the problem a lot , also not moving untill every decorations / thralls around you loaded in normally helps a lot ( wait untill the lights ( if you log in a decent enough size base and log in at “night time” , wait untill you see the moment daytime turns into nightime ) catches up with the actual server time can help even more (this should not take more than 10 seconds to max 2 minutes depending on how many player online ) ) then you should only have one or two ceiling tiles ( if you moved just a bit too early  ) having this bug effect , and yes ( at least on officials ) going out of render distance completely solves ( for me ) this issue 100% of the time. ( logging on and off seems not very effective to solve it as it depends more on how many players online ( the more online the easier it is for this bug to occur ) )

Well mine is on a SSD and it still happens, its a bug and to be honest do not ever expect this one to get fixed to many way way worst bugs in this game at the moment.

I didn’t say it solved the problem to put it on an SSD , just that it reduces it a lot ! meaning before , all my base parts could act like this with an HDD upon login whereas on an SSD it would happen on some of the further (in render range) parts of my base and not all of them . more over I explained a lot of steps that helped me reduce it , with the last one completely solving it ( but I get that those are not solving the bug for occuring each times you log in , and would be great to have it solved , but they said it was hard to solve so I think you are right , at least for the next couple of months since they have a lot on their hands at the moment )
