In press right you can see that if you put hide into it - you will recieve oil, but this does not happen.

Fish to oil, and you will use the hides to get tar.
So you are absolutely right, you cant make oil out of hide as shown in the Fluid Press.
But iam looking forward we can do this with leather and thick leather in the future, because of the need of tar we throw away thousands of finished leathers.

You can it’s just a waste of hide which is best used for tar, if you are looking for a burning substance cole is better then oil for me anyway you need a lot of hide to make oil in the press. If you prefer oil unsavory fish will give you tons in the press the little blue fish. New players just throw their fish traps out in the open so your fish are gonna be gone when you go to collect Coles easier less hassle.
You use to be able to haven’t tried in awhile as I use cole but good to know they should fix that up as to not confuse the new people.
