Follower not getting aggro anymore

Game mode: [ Single-player ]
Type of issue: [ Bug | Misc]
Server type: [PvE]
Region: [Singleplayer - europe]

Tried to fight some dungeon or world bosses.
Before the update, I had no problems there, I´ve just let my thrall tank the boss and kept attacking it´s back.
But right now, it´s literally impossible during singleplayer.

The boss is only targeting me.

No boss did ever attack my fighter thrall.
It´s quite impossible to fight a boss this way. My thrall keeps hitting an still does damage on the boss, but I have no chance to kill them anymore, when they are constantly attacking only me.

This is working as intended. It’s clear that this company has very little interest in what the current players like and are only interested in their own agenda. No one ever came in here and complained that the thralls were tanking too much. The complaint was that in PvP a thrall can 1 shot you. Thrall threat is basically meaningless in PVP.

If they really wanted to balance the game. They’d change the threat back to the way it was. Reduce the health of thralls by about 25%, drop their damage by about 60%. Increase player damage by about 25% and then add mechanics to the boss fights like the one at the end of the cellar instead of having everything be a tank and spank system.

Hey there,

Yes, this is an intended change. Our ‘agenda’, so to speak, is to address player feedback that said that follower trivialized the game content, including PVE.
We’ll continue to re-balance the game and how followers impact it in our upcoming update.

I am really sorry and do not take this the wrong way but your agenda was to make boss fights longer and harder for solo??? I would so love to see the comments asking for the thralls to be put on a tether and for them to auto regain their health and run back to their starting point because the player is healing and not hitting them every second of the fight. I read the Steam page for Conan daily and I spend a lot of time on these forums , I have never seen anyone ask for this instant health gen on bosses and wild NPCS but I would love to see these requests.

Now I have read many comments on how some people on the forums think thralls are over powered and many others think they are fine and that depends on what you play PVP or PVE I find but my finding can be wrong of course but I have never seen any where players have asked for the AOE to be shortened or to not be able to move to heal with out de-aggo and health re gen in seconds.

Well, OK, if this is a intended feature right now, then I can live with that
(at least for a while; since you talked about “continue to re-balance the game”).

So, just a simple question:

How to beat the Arena Champion in single player now?

I can beat the arena champion solo with no thrall. Time your dodges, use a shield, strike and move. Trust me it’s very possible.

I think the problem boils down to we didn’t buy dark souls. If you want to play dark souls then go buy dark souls.

Arena champion is a perfect example of a mob that hits WAY too hard. In full god breaker armor and maximum vitality you can get killed in 3-4 hits. If you die in this location you basically can’t get back in unless you have spare keys just lying around.

When people go in their first time they aren’t prepared for this and will basically lose everything and die in 2-3 hits.

This isn’t the only location in which this happens.

You don’t make a huge change like this to the core of your game and claim that this is part of a bigger change that is coming at some point in the future. The game isn’t even close to fun anymore. I honestly don’t see how any further changes could be made to make the game entertaining again, but if it is possible then all of these changes should have been made at the same time.

I run a server for this game and it is basically dead now. We went from 20 active players down to 1 in a single day. No one wants to play anymore.

There was nothing wrong with the way the game was for PvE. You should at the very least have made this part of the difficulty setting or an option that you can turn on or off for private servers.

This game was going in an amazing direction. We already have an Ark survival out there that basically completely focuses on PvP for their content. The fact that this game had a lot more focus on PvE was amazing and then content was fun.

Yes, the thralls were overpowered but that still hasn’t changed. The threat table needs to go back to the way it was and the thrall’s power needs to be decreased. People depend on them too much because they hit too hard.

The good thralls are also WAY too easy to get. A good human purge will have up to 10 Cimmerian Berserkers in it and they aren’t even top tier but they handle like one. Treasure Seekers are a dime a dozen in the unnamed city and they are basically top tier as well.

Make good thralls RARE. Drop the attack power of all thralls by a significant amount. Just the fact that your thrall can’t 2 shot enemies anymore will make the game harder. It will be easier to get overrun, especially with the new A.I. of the enemies. The threat change was completely unneeded.

Right now you can just turn your thrall loose ANYWHERE and it can solo all day. Nothing about this has improved any complaint in the game at all. It has only made it no fun to play anymore.

Sure you CAN kill the arena champion, but there is nothing fun in that play style for people who came here before the game was turned into dark souls and had no interest in that style of game.

I own dark souls. If that is what I wanted to play I would be playing that and not Conan. This game was different and it was great for it. If you want harder battles then do PvP. Games that you slip up one time and you die and basically lose all your stuff are not fun for people who enjoy PvE and aren’t fans of dark souls style games. That was not the agenda for this game originally when we bought the game.

If these types of changes are going to be made to the game to where it goes 100% a different direction then people should be offered a refund. This is not the game that I bought and I am extremely disappointed in it. Two weeks ago I spent 187 hours in this game. Since this patch has come out I’ve spent less than 20 hours in it and the time keeps dropping. We have one player who still plays regularly and he only does it because he’s mad that he just paid $100+ for the game and all it’s DLC because we all loved it so much and he doesn’t want to feel like he was ripped off.

My wife, myself and many of our other friends have stopped playing almost completely and we are all in the same boat. Quite a bit of cash played on a game that is completely destroyed in our opinion.

Yep…I´m trying to argue about this as civilized as possible…

Think about fighting the rhino king in single player.

I mean, up until now, your character literally gets freaking stuck in his head, without being able to move or duck to anywhere…
This bug still didn´t get any attention…
But now you´re telling me, you “fixed” the thralls thread level?
The thralls thread level was never broken!
You should probably get your priorities checked.

As mentioned “conan exiles was not dark souls” (until now)

right now, you killed my singleplayer game progress

And one word to all the upcoming
“grow some skills / get good” comments;
I don´t want to!
And I didn´t had to!
That´s why I bought this game!
If I wanted a harder fight;
I could have just left my thrall at home!

Yeah! Right! Ever thought about simply playing without one?!?
Tadaaa! Problem “Fixed”

But “fixing” the thralls thread level and let all the bosses kick the players butt only is just plain stupid.

I am not arguing against the fact bosses need adjusted now. I agree, when Funcom continues to shift power from the thralls to the player then they need to rebalance the combat, especially the bosses.

Having said that, I don’t think they expect this to be a Dark Souls experience, but the game has had a dodge mechanic since the beginning. They even recently adjusted the dodge to be a true dodge to mitigate incoming damage opposed to being a combat breaking escape. So they clearly want an interactive combat experience that requires players to use blocks, dodges, and general movement to overcome challenging opponents.

Great, just great. Did they fix dodge. light and medium or is it still bad?
