Game mode: Single-player Type of issue: Bug Server type: PvE Region: N/A
If I force my follower to eat a food item, by transferring it to their inventory and right-clicking on it, the growth chance bonus from that food won’t be applied if they already have an active bonus from another food.
I have only tried this in single-player so far. When I have an opportunity to try it online, I’ll update the bug report.
Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:
Open a humnan thrall’s stats screen and make sure there is no growth chance bonus.
Put 1 gruel in the thrall’s inventory.
Wait for the thrall to eat the gruel.
Open the thrall’s stats screen and observe that it now has +14% growth chance for STR.
Put 1 steak in the thrall’s inventory and right-click on it.
Open the thrall’s stats screen and look at growth chances.
Expected outcome: The +14% growth chance bonus for STR is replaced with a +14% growth chance bonus for VIT.
Observed outcome: The +14% growth chance bonus for STR remains in effect and there is no growth chance bonus for VIT.
EDIT: It’s not called “information” screen, it’s “stats”.
Did you check the stats tab after? Making sure you aren’t porking it. The info tab doesn’t always show what the stats tab shows, especially after being porked. (I’ve been raided by a porked beserker, and it killed off my 15 beserkers.) I hoped update 2.3 fixed it, like how the attributes tab was fixed by assertion.
@CodeMage I reported something similar in my “internal” testing a few weeks ago. Could you make your thrall lose a bit of health while having the str stats and then give them the steak? I found that the growth chance boost is somehow tied up to the hp regen. If they are at max health, they won’t get the stats updated but if you hit them (I play on a pvp enabled server) and they eat the steak to regen, then their stats would be updated as well.
Moving the food from slot to slot didn’t seem to work either for me, so after each level I had to damage my horse (in my case) to force it to regen in order to update the growth %.
I have not tested in the lastest build, maybe this was all fixed.
I’ve run into this issue as well, but also into a rather interesting side effect. You can make a pet regen forever on a single piece of food.
Give a pet a non-edible food item that they would normally eat, like plant fiber. They’ll get the buff the first time you do this. Now, no matter how much you move the plant fiber around they won’t take another bite.
Now give said pet an edible food item, like a single berry. They’ll regen health off that single food item forever without actually consuming it.
(By non-edible I mean something your character can’t eat, but an animal can. By edible I mean something both your character and an animal can eat.)
