Funcom is a failure or a develop team

Lodestone is super OP. However, its not a guaranteed drop from key chests so its not overly saturated unless a clan has a stockpile of them.
I just dropped 30ish kills last night and over a dozen assist kills and the majority of those were me and my crew lodestoning. 2- 3 hits and the enemy cant do anything, its pretty gnarly. I prefer this over 1 shot crom swording but yea, its probably the best weapon in the game currently.

That got me thinking. One of the major issues Conan Exiles has in PVP is there isn’t much incentive to actually raid and steal except to dump a turd on someone’s build.

A few weapons that aren’t prolific and a bit on the rare side giving an advantage would give a pretty decent point of contention. If you know someone is using say a Lodestone and your clan doesn’t have many of them. It might be in their interest to ambush the guy who is using it in order to add it to your stores, and their clan may now have incentive to try and raid you back to retrieve it.

I remember a time when raiders on a server would collect uniquely dyed armors from known combatants kind of like collecting ears in Diablo in the 90s. Too bad they didn’t have ways of displaying them back then.

Of course the only way to really make this work is to keep said weapons on the rare side. Stockpiling them shouldn’t be something easy to do by PVE (boss killing) methods. But encouraged to PVP the people who were lucky enough to find them.

Way too much thought and strategies on that. PVP is now just wipe them from the face of the map. No quarter, no only going so far in. Most clans try to wipe every foundation now because they don’t want anything hidden to remain and that brings the point of don’t start up again.

Sure the good loot gets compiled into the victor’s stores, but as far as counter raiding? Yeah that doesn’t happen anymore since wiping is the point of the game now.

That does seem to be the way of it now. I can remember when raiding meant getting some rare T3 materials, high end weapons and armor and most importantly, the chance at legendary thralls that made specific armors.

Since Funcom went full on easy mode all that stuff is irrelevant. So you’re very right in saying PvP and raiding now is just to wipe others.

Yeah…I remember those days when you go through the thrall chest to find that special Pokemon card and getting all excited

Don’t you ever miss the days when you used to be nostalgic? :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, I can’t think of anything more fun than mindlessly running in circles and slaughtering the same bunch of exiles over and over in hopes that maybe today will be that special day that I find the one person who can make that one armor. The skills required, the challenge involved, ahhhh, those were the days.

Oh we aren’t talking skill. This is straight up Vegas baby.

People do PvP and wipe others to record clips for their videos with “bad taste” of music.

“Bad taste” in quotation marks, because this is highly subjective.

Slot machine. I can also play Diablo 2 for that and have even more fun.

Didnt take skill, but determination, and the rewards of getting that thrall so you could finally have a strength build to go fight in the north was fun…and it was for alot of people. Or that could make that really cool armor.

Its easy mode now when you can grab a legendary out of the asura cave and boom, you have all armors that can go anywhere.

The typo in the title is killing me.

Haha, on my servers, some people displayed others’ armor on armor stands. Funcom’s response to this was to ban them for harassment and recently remove the ability to rename armor stands.
BTW d2 was in 2000s :stuck_out_tongue:

I wasn’t talking about the sequel.

Exactly. There’s no lower form of challenge in a video game than a challenge to simply not quit repeating the same action over and over. It’s not about getting better, it’s not about doing anything different, it’s merely about not giving up.

Again, exactly: if you want to keep having fun in our game, repeat this indefinitely until you get lucky.

If I have to choose between the non-challenge of mindlessly repetitive slot mechanics and the non-challenge of getting stuff easily, I’ll pick the latter, thanks.

Thing is, those aren’t the only two choices Funcom had. Here’s a novel idea: instead of pining for the shіtty old mechanics that got replaced by shіtty new mechanics, maybe we could wish for non-shіtty mechanics instead? Crazy, right?

True. I tried changing things up. I decided that I was not going to build anything and ‘live off the land’ for a play through. I went from the cross down noob river to the dregg. Picked up a some darfari gear and got lucky with medium/light pieces from exiles. Had a steel falcata, steel daggers and an iron warhammer. Killed boss in the dregg and headed east up the river toward black galleon. Aquired amore weapons armor and repair kits. Made my way to sepermaru and then north towrd new asgard. By then I had so much gear that I was steam rolling over everything.

It was a cool run and made things like repair kits and weapon drops useful but man I thought it would have been harder. Even the arena champion was a push over. Just use heavy attack combo with one handed sword. Keeps knocking her down. She never got a hit in.

I’d say that’s absolutely correct in these open world sandbox kind of games. There is limited content of which most if not all is easy. Repetitiveness is really the only thing to keep a person going. Heck you could even say the same about pvp - it’s the same stuff over and over again. Kill, blow up, loot crap.

It’s all in how much a person can keep repeating it.

Yeah perhaps. But if the alternative is a guaranteed result for individual content (example, the boss crocodile at Priest Kings retreat will 100% always drop only one specific legendary) we will end up with only a small few specific bosses or content played for the meta gear and meta builds. Hey maybe people are ok with that, I can’t say. But it would seem any content made after that would hold less value if there was no greater reward for it. And if Funcom added a new boss that dropped a new OP weapon, older content would never be played.

It’s tough I think to find that happy medium, and I also think at this stage I don’t see Funcom making a drastic chang to how things go.

This Game usually rewards carrots when
killing bosses

I Lost count how many reach of the red mother i have un chests. To the point there is no reason to kill the red mother

Ita just hp sponge. No fun on it anymore. And nothing worth looking either

Same happens with every BOSS and dungeon.

The one parte i do still enjoy ? Building… That is always something new with building.

The incentive for pvp is fun.
It IS fun fighting.
It IS fun getting clips.
It IS fun blowing peoples bases up.
It IS fun taking peoples loot.
It IS fun becoming a better, more skilled player.

Can’t say I agree. If it were that simple, then there would be no need to add new content ever. People would just keep spinning the hamster wheel and be perfectly happy.

To be fair, I imagine there are players like that, but I don’t really believe they’re the majority.

If game design were as simple as your words imply, there wouldn’t be tons of books on it.

It doesn’t just boil down to a handful of discrete, mutually exclusive choices from which you have to pick one. Hell, just to decide how you use RNG in your game is a whole spectrum, not just “100% deterministic drop” and “put the drop behind an RNG and forget about it”. Those are just the extremes, and game designers who pick those are: 1) designing one of the least important aspects of the gameplay, 2) pressed for time/resources and have to compromise (hopefully temporarily), or 3) lazy.

That’s something we can agree on. Good game design is hard.

I wish I was that optimistic. We’ve seen Funcom do drastic changes completely unbidden and wreck things. The latest example is the inventory revamp dumpster fire, but it’s by no means the only one. They have quite a track record.

This happened only on chapter 1, it’s over 3 chapters now.
No the game is not that easy anymore and the npcs and mobs are way smarter than they use to. Lvl up is not like it use to be and more tricks disappear with each update.
Yes you can grab a legendary weapon from particular main easy spawns, but easy for veterans, not new players.
