Funcom, pay me in croms

How can something set up to pay for it’s self, be for making money?
The battle pass gives you enough croms for finishing it to buy the next one. The butts in seats thing. It’s designed to keep you in game as much as it can, so hands you the next pass.

It’s not directly making any money, just making the game look more popular/populated.

No, that just promotes people logging in and going AFK. The system is already set up to give you new weekly challenges regardless of having finished the pass. My suggestion was to just pay out for finishing those challenges. The game could continue to count the BP you earn, then pay out at the end of the pass.

Battle Passes Don’t belong in survival games. They need to go back to proper DLC packages.

Why not?

I do have issues with the chapter set up. It’s not the season pass that is the issue, it’s drastic changes being made to the game and the map that are removed with the next chapter.

Now my question is, once they get a couple of years of battle pass and season events done, and they go in to auto repeat, are you still going to be playing and buy the pass?

The real issue with the battle pass and season events is they are designed for transient players. Short termers that will only be playing a season or two and move on. That does not describe your common Conan exiles player. The way it works is it seems you play it, love it and put a few thousand hours in, or play a day to a week, hate it and quit.

Personally, I think you’ve answered your own question. That’s a pretty good argument for why they don’t belong in survival games (or at least not in survival games that people play for long periods of time, like Conan).

By transient I meant people that wont be playing long enough to see the season pass repeat. Aren’t we up to a year now?
But LOTRO did this a long long time ago. The season pass/events system is in no way new or limited to tencent.

Yes, of course, it was obvious that’s what you meant. Hence the reply.

Moot point, not a survival game.

Is Conan?
The point was the age of the game not what type it was.

If this was implemented, would you be ok when people find a way to cheese it with the least amount of effort, or to find a way to afk it? Say for example, a challenge is to kill rocknose bosses and people simply build archer towers near it, let thralls kill it, respawn etc, and go afk?

Nope. The context was survival games.
