Hey guys,
the title allready says it all, I think we need the possibility to earn crom coins in the game even after we complete the battle pass. Yes you earn enough through the pass to get the next one or to buy some things but if you want more things from the Bazaar you are basically forced to buy coins for real money or you not gonna be able to get the items. I get that Funcom wants to make money, but you still can give the players the possibility to earn these coins in the game without losing your earnings…
I think the way Blizzard did it with Overwatch would work for Conan Exiles as well. You make like 20 different daily quests (nothing special, gather this, kill that) and you let the players complete five of them randomly on the daily basis, earning 20 coins / quest… that would be 100 coins a day. If you want to buy something from the Bazaar that is worth 1200 coins (for example) you have to wait and do the quests for 12 days to be able to buy it. People who don’t want to wait or do the work can and will still buy the coins for real money, so nothing will change for the developers. But this way you avoid the problem losing players who just categorically refuse to spend real money in the game. Somebody who allready did everything in game and build a huge base, but doesn’t want to spend real money on items may just leave the game completely because he has nothing else to do and gets bored… this way players would still be motivated to do something until the next battle pass arrives and you will have a more active community…
We already get free rewards in game with parts of the battle pass available to earn in game. If you play frequently than you even only have to pay for the battle pass once. So we already playing on free servers and free rewards for playing, I think we can live without free Crom coins and leave funcom to make some income.
Is there any other kind of free? Oh wait that was sarcasm. Yes just like bf4 you know, the game that had to give away all its dlc for free just to keep people playing it’s that great. A fine example of a game that is nothing like Conan in any way.
Just one issue , though I agree with you on some of this . Those “freeloader” players are also part of the content and atmosphere of all the servers regardless of mode or ownership.
That depends. We’ve already established they’re unwilling to spend money on optional cosmetic content, like DLCs or BLB or BP. So the remaining question is: are they enjoying the game without that?
If they are, then they are actually contributing to the content and atmosphere of the servers in a positive way.
If they aren’t – which is what the original post implies by suggesting that these players need to be “motivated to do something until the next battle pass arrives” – then they’re not really contributing.
To put it bluntly, anyone who can’t enjoy the game without this optional content, but isn’t willing to invest in it, should find a game they enjoy instead of asking to be given free stuff.
The problem conan exiles has, is that it doesn’t have much to offer for PVE players in the long term… ones you reach the maximum level, did the dungeons and build your “dream fortress” the only motivation you have are those little skins and additional furniture for your home… if you can’t “earn” it and you just have the option to buy it, where is the motivation to keep playing that game? You can’t have second characters, there are no really fun daily events or quests so no wonder this game losing players… you all are acting like Funcom won’t make any money if they allow the players to earn crom coins… Overwatch has the same system and that game is still played by a bunch of people… it seems to work…
That’s your perspective. I’ve been playing it since February 2017 and I’m still playing. And no, I don’t play PVP. It’s been a mix of mostly online PVE-C, with some online PVE and some single-player. Mostly official servers, with a few stints on private servers.
Again, that’s you. There are many things to do, and there are other people to play with.
We haven’t even seen the BP in action, so we don’t know how much it will allow us to earn and how much we’ll have to buy.
Also, did you know that you can play the game even without BP? And that there will probably be people doing that?
You’re projecting your own lack of motivation onto everyone else.
Not on the same server, no. Did you know you could play on more than one server?
Also, I’m really tired of this whole “I want to convince people that the devs should cater to me, so I’ll say the game is losing players” trope. It’s like a freaking disease. Like this guy on YouTube said, all we ever hear is that every game is “dying”:
Seriously, if you can’t enjoy a game as diverse as this one without endless freebies, then find a game you enjoy better.
Good for you, I was playing Conan Exiles since the vanilla beta, I have maximum level characters on several (official) servers and I’m not interested to play on privat servers. Me and my buddy build several huge towns and fortresses (the last one was finished just a couple days ago) so my desire to build is for the time being exhausted. I have no quests to do or epic weapons or armer to get, my fortress is full of epics and legendaries and I would like to have daily things to do…
Ah yes, the typical “there are many things to do” bs without offering an Idea… if you’re a slow player or a casual player, you certainly will still have something to do, I’m neither of those things…
There are plenty videos from the test server to watch about that topic. And again, it doesn’t matter what you can buy and what you can earn, I made a suggestion because I think it would make the game experience better, it wasn’t a suggestion to you, so your argument is welcome, but doesn’t really matter. It’s more someting for the developers to think about…
again, chill out, it’s just a suggestion, you life not gonna change no matter what the developer decide…
Yea great you looked up how many people are playing now, congratulations. do you also have a statistic about how many people stopped playing after Funcom took months to bring new content into the original game? Or to announce this update? When I started playing our server was almost full… last weeks I played before the announcement there were only two or three other players active… Funcom had to merge servers together just recently, did you already forgot about it? So don’t tell me how great that game is doing… I play MMOs since Ultima Online and played almost every western MMO there is, I can recognize when a game starts tanking…
See you’re tired of people saying a game is losing players, I’m tired of people like you who basically tell somebody to “f*ck off and play something else” just because they have a different opinion… Don’t sweat it, if I decide to do so, you still can enjoy the game, nothing will change for you because of my suggestion…
Conan Exiles was doing something wrong. Evidence of this is it’s population vs games like Rust. Apples to oranges, whatever, but if 80% of people are eating oranges, the apple is doing something wrong. If they need to update their monetary policy to do something better… Why not. At this point I am expecting to be slightly disappointed, but also slightly satisfied.
Imagine biting into a delicious apple, loving that apple, being happy you purchased the apple… Then you go to take another bite and see a worm. (Tencent) Tencent wanted some of the apple too. Now we have to share. -.-
The game is stagnant in terms of population, with the exception of during updates when some players return to check out the new content, then quickly leave again.
Conan Exiles has designed a game where a large percentage of the player base builds a home, and then runs out of things to do. Soooo… They base babysit. They value their hard work, but without a real draw back to the game (with the exception of updates) they only log on to refresh their structures.
This is a huge number of players.
This is a huge part of why Conan Exiles has a chronic lack of players on a server.
There is nothing to do. Gameplay loop is still lacking. So players just log off and come back as required to refresh their base.
Maybe one day Conan Exiles will add quests, trading, or character customization beyond what is available today.
Here we go, I was wondering how long before Rust and/or Ark were mentioned. It is ok to be an apple in a store full of oranges. What if contrary to what everyone believes, the devs prefer to stay true to their game instead of turning it into an orange simply because they can charge more for oranges.
If they wanted to stay true to their game, they would not have sold to Tencent. Since the clearly stated goal of the Battle Pass is to make more money, then what is the issues with drawing attention to direct competitors that are outperforming them in certain areas? Comparing competitors is a normal, productive thing to do. Don’t let it bother you.
Ford has learned from Chevy and Chevy has learned from Ford.
Maybe Funcom can learn from some more successful companies, beyond just how to reach further into our pockets.
And why is that? They can stay true to themselves in Conan and use Tencent’s money do develop, let’s say Dune. How are these two mutually exclusive? Take PoE, Tencent have invested there as well and the game is doing great.
