I used to play a lot GW2(Guild Wars 2) and one of the reasons I never got bored or had the chance to do “'everything” in that game was dynamic events, these made the game feel alive and interesting as I was doing my daily farming there was a possibility to encounter extra content along the way, either by getting attacked by random monsters that spawned in the area or asked to escort some npc from point A to point B, any way it was entertaining and I know Funcom had some attends to these kind of content in the past (seen only 2 in one year while playying) , but it’s not enough. I do realize this is a survival game not an mmorpg but it could be so much more if we had more things,npc or monsters to interact with since 99% of player base plays solo and most of the time get bored quite fast. My problem with this game is that it lacks content when it comes down o end game, there’s rrally not much to do after completing all dungeons and get the desired thrall/recipe/items. Honestly the removal of old purge system which was the only thing I used to enjoy to the fullest(so much that I was asking for help during them even though I was playing solo most of the time) was really bad , now purges require more preparation and they never occur unless you trigger them, used to watch greedy people that build too much in 2-3 days getting wiped by purges , used to build around the purge invasion system and made some interesting tactics for defense…now you need a 2nd or 3rd base only for purge and a lot of gold which can arguible by get quite “easy” from Al merayah but not everyone does raids on that castle even on pve…I really love this game and despite playing over 4-5k hours Ark I fell in love with conan after playing it for 2 days and never looked back , but we need some improvements , maybe 1-2 new maps per year…small ones that continue the story after removing the bracelet or expand the exiles lands to player that completed specific tasks , allow travel back and forth between expansion(currently siptah only), I see no reason why I can’t have nordenheimer shelves on exile lands or vault armor helmets, maybe add activities for different types of players like gardening (rn we only got plots which are used for grey lotus only…), some animal breeding or training to make them able to eventually compete with the thralls when they reach their peak (might get 500 armor on a white tiger with authority build but thralls get 3-4x that amount without), mounts attachments similar to the once in Soulmask maybe, I don’t mind using camels only for the extra slots, but maybe other players wish to have this feature on their 30k hp pony Idk. Even adding more variety to mounts like making bears and boars more useful by riding them ,maybe even cats(not the stray ones). The combat is really nice but sorcery is more of a “optional utility” would be interesting to have at least one type of sorcerer thrall that throws fireballs or something…bearers are dead rn can’t even reach 4k hp with best perks while zerkers got the same amount of hp with a dmg multiplier that is 6x the amount the t3-t4 bearer gets, maybe make cimmerian berserker 50% spawn rate, or implement some events in the camps that would guarantee named thralls (still looking for yog confessor after one year, and haven’t even seen a t3 yet). Maybe some use for the resources we don’t need after farming too much like black ice for example(I do get 15-20k per run at ymir temple and will never use it cuz I don’t build with black ice that much). Religion specific events in “temples” for hunting that prient you wanted for x-mas and santa conan never gave it to you.
Sadly, this game simply has less content in terms of hours spent to explore*. Traveling between Siptah used to be possible but was disabled due to serious technical issues regarding loss of data.
New stories are no doubt in the works, but it’s all been pretty much drip-fed and nothing too world shattering so far.
In all honesty, don’t expect new maps in an official capacity, there’s modders making maps but it’s likely it’ll just be the Exiled Lands (which is mainly worked on) and Siptah, which will (it looks like) mostly stay the way it is.
Don’t get me wrong, i’d love to see these things happen but it’s best to forget about it. Just some minor things will be added such as heroes, maybe something with Mek-Kamoses, the Stygian incursion… worth checking for sure but the gameplay horizon won’t broaden much more.
*by explore i mean the novelty of discovery, not time spent grinding or time-gated content.
Let’s face it. Conan Exiles needs new things or you’ll soon not have a player base large enough to even support your ridiculously expensive bazaar.
What the game desperately needs is map expansions - both Exiled Lands and Siptah. Your players need new places to explore, not more of the same stuff we’ve had since launch.
Expand on sorcery: Add a lot of new spells and versatility to the sorcery system.
New enemies: Add new and unique enemies to the game. You should make this part of an update to the story of your maps.
Bring back the old purge system in conjunction with the curent one. This is a popular request from your player base. Listen to them or lose more of them.
Bring in new religions with new avatars and the works. There’s lots of them in the lore to choose from.
Personally at a gut-level, i agree.
CE would of course benefit from more content, more horizontal progression to keep players engaged with more than just grinding out bases and thrall collecting.
But i already stated above what i think the current course for the game is in a pragmatic sense. That is even while disregarding the actual current state of the game and upcoming content.
