German name for killed NPCs

Game mode: Online official
Type of issue: Bug
Server type: PvE-Conflict
Region: NA
Mods?: No
Edition: Steam

Bug Description:

NPC thralls have English localization names before death, transform to German (I think?) names upon death.

***## Steps to Reproduce:

Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. Please be as detailed as possible; the more details, the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:

  1. Step 1 Go into a thrall camp in SIptah and start knocking people out.
  2. Step 2 Kill some of them and see their names switch to German names upon death.
  3. Step 3
  4. Etc.

Er, it’s an Official Server.

That’s funny. I play on ps4 official in German and everything is in English after death. So exactly the other way round.
And yes it’s German in your screenshot.

This happens on Oceania Official PvP servers on Playstation too - everyone turns German when they die, and horses and thralls turn German when you get them to stop following you.

I reported this months ago for the Xbox.
Thought they would have fixed it with updates.
Guess not.
My official PVE still does it.

Sounds like it’s maybe a setting issue on official servers then?

Message window alerts in German too.

This is on an [NA] PVE-Conflict Server, too.

Same…pvec as well

In German the other way.

What’s with the other languages? Is it Italian when you play in Spanish?

Well that makes it look like maybe someone’s managed to accidentally reverse the two localisation links. (If UE4 actually works that way.) That might be the piece that solves why this bug is happening.

Indeed I think there is something switched too.
I don’t remember how long I see this but I’m sure over an year.
Thought there was no translation for dead people, so it fallback to English as default language.

But it’s funny to see that there are translations but never linked correctly :joy:

It shouldn’t do that for NA as they are in North America, right?

It’d be a fun way to learn German. Just name your thrall whatever you want to know how to say and have it stop following you.

The STURM is comming!

That once happened to me too after changing the game language.

Eventually you got the same issue?

(Was fixed after a lot of reconnects and language changes)
