Well, it seems nothing works and now this has become a permanent feature until someone from Funcom fixes it. Logging into the server list works fine. Trying to log into any server from that point results in this, every time, no matter what server you try to log into.
So we have to wait on Funcom to address this issue, is what I am hearing?
Sadly, yes.
Happened on my dedicated server which I host an hour or so ago. Was online playing, game froze, and when I got it running again it has been just nonstop “Authentication failed!” errors on any server. Doesn’t matter if it’s mine, or an official server. Meanwhile, others are able to connect to the server without any issues.
The server itself says that I’m an unknown user from an unknown location, and that the SteamAPI has failed. Hopefully Funcom is aware and working on a fix, since it seems to be fairly widespread?
Very widespread, and it seems to be effecting more and more players, hopefully that will motivate Funcom for a quick fix.
My friends and I disabled BattleEye and did so on our launchers but only I was able to connect. Another thing to note: before we disabled BattleEye, I was on the server and they couldn’t connect while I was in. Once I logged off, I couldn’t rejoin until we disabled BattleEye on the server but again, only I could reconnect.

Yeah I tried similar with battleeye, both disabling on the launcher and our private server, and it hasn’t effected it at all, still random authentication failed errors.
On the old forum posts some players figured it was related to a steam VAC ban, even from other games, but this time it doesn’t seem related to that because I and others who have zero VAC bans on any games are getting this authentication failed error.
Same here on both my own private server and trying to get into official servers. Over half my players can’t get in while there’s 15+ people online currently. So this problem just started very recently for us.
Agreed, it does seem to be random as I and a friend were online off and on all day today and it wasn’t until around 845pm EST that we started having this issue tonight. It happened last week as well and seems to time out, if you will. We can reconnect any where from an hour to several hours later on our own server.
I’ve tried GeForce NOW and locally installed and both give me an “Authentication” error.
My brother on the other side of the states has the same issue. . . =(
I can verify all servers for all Conan Exiles are down (afaik).
With this happening on a Friday (U.S.) I don’t think we will see a fix until next week because they are closed and they haven’t posted a thing on twitter for days.
From what I gather it isn’t steam or epic it is a FUNCOM issue. They messed something up. Every forum everywhere is that same. Battle eye no battle eye public official server and private servers all getting the same thing.
I certainly hope their server/network people come in as needed, not just 9-5, M-F. Has anything like this happened before over a weekend where they let it sit until Monday Oslo time?
What is stupid, not even private servers people have made at home are working. They did something and now they broke the game for anything out side of the house or coop mode.
I’m sure they have people looking at it right now, it’d be silly if they don’t have some on-standby or other employees who would come in on weekends to get it up and running. At least… I hope that’s the case.
I’m watching my friend who is still playing; the others who logged out for some reason or another can’t get in but he is still playing since he’s been on all day.

on the one hand, i’m glad it’s not just me that CANT PLAY THE GAME I PAID FOR. but there are 9 people (according to the server list) that can, that is annoying.
the amount of crap i’ve been willing to put up with from funcom over the years is astounding, between the jank, the cheaters, the predatory loot box crap and now this.
The concept is there is a handshake with the servers. There is a set that logs you into the server when you are in the title screen, then another that adds you to the server you choose to play on. then that server you play on takes you. So basically the one that logs you in at the main screen is messing up on your ip/id numbers it basic is erroring saying you don’t technically own a real copy to do this or what not (just a error of course) it has happen in the past before in a similar fashion
