Graphical Bug - Very bright glow

After updating graphic drivers to the latest version I am getting a graphical bug where well looking around you get blinded by a very bright glow quite often.

Well, that certainly seems annoying. Probably good to report it to helpshift, since that’s where bug reports are supposed to go now - Contact Us — Conan Exiles Help Center

Reported it there since you pointed that out, but why label the forum " PC Bugs " if nothing is to be done from the forums?

Because that is how bugs used to be reported (and I believe is still intended as the place for bug reports for CE Legacy (UE4)). There’s a couple of pinned posts at the top of the PC bug reports section, maybe they explain more (or maybe they don’t and just direct where to report, I forget…)

Alright cool, well we need this fixed.

Agreed. I haven’t had as bad as what you showed, but I did have something along those lines happen when I was standing at an exact position between the camera and a campfire - seemed like maybe it was trying to do a ‘light reflecting off armour’ kinda thing but going wrong and creating a weird glare through the character (but only at really specific angles). Definitely a few wonky things going on with the lighting currently.

You may be on to something, it does start at the helmet as a reflection. But I am unable to get into the server due to high PING atm, when I get on I’ll test it since there was a new nvidia update today. I’ll leave the feedback here.

Yeah, that looks very similar to what I was getting (though in my case it was at the shoulders, because different armour). Moving the camera position around I was able to make it better or worse (though never as bad as you had it in that first picture).

So it’s not only happening to just me, same thing though I can move the camera angle a little to improve it but this issue shouldn’t be occurring. I have not tested it since the new Nvidia update but I will let you know if this consist.

UPDATE ON ISSUE: Still not fixed, and I did more testing it only happens indoors it must be something to do with fire light and the reflection of certain armors. This matter has been reported on the bug site, and through the forums here. I will update again in the future if it ever does get fixed.

Strange - the time when I got it was outdoors (I had a campfire down to cook some food for a thrall rescued from a cage before making the trek home). Though, as previously noted, it wasn’t as severe as your intitial picture, closer to your second picture.

Edit: I wonder if angle of the sun played into it in some way…

Very well could, I am glad you are helping investigate this issue though! I’ll post more updates as I learn more about it.

A little more evidence in support of the idea that light sources are somehow involved - you can see he is standing in front of a torch, but you can’t see his face. I tried moving around and the effect remained much the same from different angles. I’ll leave him standing there and see if the problem is the same at different times of day (though being indoors, I would hope the sun isn’t involved, because that would mean it is coming through two layers of walls - there’s another room behind the wall with the torch on it).

Good information, even at night the issue happens so I don’t think its directly related to the sun but could be wrong.

Yeah, I did a bit of checking today - that wall behind him is more or less directly north, and whether the sun was to the east of the build or to the west, his face was the same, so I think I have to agree, the sun seems tobe out of the equation.

(Thing is, I don’t remember his face looking like that when I initially placed him there, so I’m trying to figure out what has changed. One thought is that he was originally wearing a Black Hand chest armour (so all leather), because he was a cage rescue and I just stuck whatever on him to get him home - so now I’m wondering if it changed when I gave him the metal armour. At least that’s another thing I can test…)
