Graphics and Poly count changes. Yes, No, Maybe? Alternative solutions? Elaboration?

Not a fan. Can you elaborate on the purpose of these changes?

I can see potential benefits, if they are there. But I am also wondering if this was just a nerf to one of your best selling points. (Great graphics).

So, I noticed pretty quick. I won’t elaborate beyond saying it got too bright, and the feet of statues in the Savanah of exiled lands got real ugly. Like N64 ugly. I didn’t look for other examples, but I imagine I might notice them too.

So… Why solve over-building this way? Are the benefits really substantial? Can you give us examples of the improvements we might be seeing? Make this change more appealing to those of us who only see the down side?

Maybe introducing some sort of generous “soft” cap to building. Or perhaps introduce a “catastrophe” mechanic where upon reaching X number of pieces in a map grid… a localized earthquake, or tornado, or angry avatar stomps around the offending region and destroys the over built clan specifically.

Give them plenty of warnings, hours, or weeks, or “tiered” warnings as they grow. Basic text, or sounds of a imminent earthquake or other calamity. “X is offended by your gluttony” or “The earth will reclaim its stone…” or “Winds howl, mud flows, the cold descends from the north.”

My hope is that these changes will allow you to add additional content while staying within your server performance goals… Progress is progress though, even if it’s backwards! I do appreciate the updates though, just want to understand them. What I read is that this will help servers that are full and over built. But it will also affect offline players, and every other player that rarely experiences these issues. Hence my concern.
