The Greater Elephant is still experiencing the bug where they teleport and lock you into place. It seems like you worked on this issue with several of the thralls since the thrall AI change came out (although I still get knocked off walls and such but the Rhino and a couple of other thralls) but the elephant - I literally cannot play with them. they teleport on top of me - all of the usual tricks - crouching, changing my view, etc but the only option is to log off and wait for him to go home. And start over. I cant make it more than 15-20 minutes per session before he locks me into his body. It also looks like he is taking a lot of friendly fire damage comparatively. I am not sure if the rate is the same as other animals but his hitbox is so large that he just always gets hit no matter what we try. I try to pull the creatures away from him to swing at them which helps but the battle with him seems to be glitchy in that the creature will be running at me and then pop over to him, then I have to draw them back to me. In addition - when he tramples creatures they often fall through the ground (I am playing in the jungle with him - not sure if it is happening in area’s outside the witch queen area)
Take the greater elephant (not painted) out to level him up. Stop on steps/slopes to arrange inventory, pick food, etc. Its only a matter of a short time and poof - you are inside your elephant. There is no E to move him off, you cannot move him to guard because you cannot find ‘level ground’ to place him on, you cannot crouch to get out from under him. Guess I could kill him but that would defeat the purpose.
The first time this happened, we were going around the witch queen area (outside the walls to her area) from the west side (we slid down the wall form the obelisk) - we were coming to the steps on the east of us, the entrance through the roots on the north, the witch queen bailey wall on the south, and the drop from the obelisk on the west. We fought those 2 grey apes that we to the north of that set off stairs that always fight with the birds. I stopped to pick some fiber for the elephant to eat against the wall to the west and got pinned.
The second time we were south of the witch queen area as you head down towards the river in the south. There is an ape camp with a watch out ape that stands looking south on a rock outcropping. I was partway up that staircase and just killed the grey ape when the elephant teleported into me again.
The friendly fire damage is evident when fighting the grey apes or the gorillas. I am using legendary axe and shield. I swing far more often than the apes and try to keep ape aggro on me. Which is what leads me to think that the modifier for friendly fire was not applied to the greater elephant perhaps?
BTW - after not being able to play the game since patches 40 and 41 and the hotfix to resolve the ping challenges - it seems like the lag issue that made the game unplayable has been resolved. Or at least enough that I can attempt to play the game now. Thank you for getting that resolved!
