60 nanomage froob engie twink

I wrote this mainly for myself, part in case i have to do it again, part proof in case someone accuses me of sploiting items on. Part as a an exercise in.
If there are any unclear/incomplete things about this guide i would like you to let me know, via message or discord. There should be a link to the discord, in the AO launcher window.

Decided on froob because it does not take up a paid character slot as a dungeon boss killer. This guide is aimed towards nanomage breed because the bottleneck for self casting "beacon warp" is MM, and the chest imp i use (shiney HP + bright MM + no faded) is intel based . However a stamina based chest imp would work fine too, you will just have to max the stamina skill, which is expensive for nanomages, but cheaper for other breeds.
TS MC arent so much the problem if you have even decent ql "Platinum Filigree Ring set with a Perfectly Cut Star Ruby" X2, but 2X "Ring of Presence" will work too.

Any breed is possible, all with their own advantages and disadvantages (compared to other breeds).

  • Nanomage (this guide’s focus) will ironically get more HP than solitus/opifex because of the "Stinging Snake Tattoo"X2, although without having to IP body dev, which is a waste of IP for nanomages because of the measly 2hp/skillpoint , ip expensive skills, and having to raise 2 of those skills (stamina + body dev).
    Nanomages also have an easier time self casting “Beacon warp” in case someone lacks alot of the twink items required in this guide, or if one sucks at twinking like me.
  • Opifex have an IP advantage because they only have to max 2 green abilities (agility and sense), and only 1 light blue ability to raise for this toon (intel). Also may have slightly higher imp qls in general because of the slightly higher agil sense.
  • Trox abviously has an HP advantage, and i will probably give it a go in the future. Although it will require some nanoskill items besides Neleb robe and rings of presence, to self cast Beacon warp. But if you use the item shops nanocans, then you won’t need to hotswap much to beacon warp.
  • Solitus have the advantage of looking human, other than that they are generally a more IP costly version of opifex, since opis have 2 green abilites and 1 dark blue.

Goals

  • Self buffed beacon warp caster for CoH and other useful warp locations
  • Powerlevel character with high damage potential when fully buffed, for killing bothackers in Pleasant Meadows. They give a lot of xp per kill , they don’t have a lot of hp, and are ranged, so you can kite them to avoid damage.
  • Self buffed Azzy killer, using line of sight bot healing trick,+ "Advanced Nano Recharger" . Or just join the fight with GSF + HoT
  • Foremans twink, Killing foremans bosses does require OSB’s. TIM boss is easy just heal yourself with stims/emergency treatment kits, and run away a bit once ur hp gets low. Director is harder, but manageable, if you drag him to the bottom of the east room. There you can use bot heals to draw aggro of the adds, then kite the adds to reduce damage on the bot.

  • make sure the character is on a seperate account, so you can dual log it with anything
  • Make it neutral, so you can access both clan and omni gauntlet buff npcs
  • make sure you haven’t yet used your full ip reset in the past on something stupid

  • unequip all items
  • reset all skills that you dont need as much of as you have now, in case of doubt a full ip reset, if you raised psychic/strength at all. Or if stamina is raised above 61 also full ip reset, unless you plan on maxing stamina for implants.
  • the ip distribution: cap agil, cap sense, cap intel, cap pistol, cap MC TS MM, cap treatment, cap comp lit
  • "gauntlet buff" on the character then log off to preserve
  • "ql 250 tower contracts" sense+agil+intel+treatment (optional) go find an org that has them, orgs may lose towers, so thats why this is the second most important timed requirement
  • access to Take the Shot, Unexpected Attack, SFA, IC, Behe , ncu buff, FG, ES, EP, pistol mastery, offensive steamroller, ranged energy mastery/Composite Heavy Artillery, 131, maestro elec engi , Lupine Agility, Eagle Eye/blood makes noise, Advanced Symbol Manipulation, an agent is ideal, you can /terminate then PM SI BM mocham or wrangle an agent, to speed up his rezz.

  • I use the Item Assistant 1.1.0.2 made by MC labs, after every step of items i equip, i take a screenshot of my abilties paste it in paint and write down treatment+comp lit/ other important skills along with it, then log off. By looking in item assistant and the abilities paint document, i can calculate what to do next without buffs running out.

If you didn’t raise stamina&body dev very far like me, (because of high ip cost vs hp benefit), you MC skill will be ±8 points lower than ur TS skill, then imp order MChead-TSrhand-TSeye gives the biggest difference in MC vs TS bonus, thus compensating it nicely.
If you did raise stam more in order to max body dev, then imp order TSrhand-MChead-TSeye, gives a more balanced ratio of MC to TS bonusses.

  • 140 base body dev, any higher and i would need to raise stamina even more that what i needed for twinking, which means raising stamina AND body dev for only 2 hp per skill point.
  • bit of fling shot, untill you have 80% of the pistol requirements. I used 2X ql 93 sol k-91 s, so not much was needed to keep them 100%
  • i maxed evade close combat
  • i maxed runspeed
  • no dodge yet
  • no ranged inits yet, didnt need any to keep low ql sol k-91 at full speed with coffee
  • no nano init yet
  • no tradeskills other then the 301 ME and 151 NP with rings of presence equiped for the 2 trimmers
  • 35000 ip left over roughly
    spend them as you see fit

pop boots of infinite speed asap, because once the skill is out of cooldown you can use it for coffee

This method if perfect for long term camping, because higher ql Aggressiveness trimmer is permanent, and the bot will still listen after wrangle runs out.
This bot can take uklesh and khalum without bot heals, but azzy still does require bot healsand GSF+HoT are 4 hours.

Settings

equip combat rings, "candy cord"s or “ring of nucleus” or “ring of power” or "docaholic ring"s for ql 90 nano rechargers, or whatever
You can bind the following things to your keyboard in the normal way
“recondition parts”
"Disruptive Photon Absorber
“fling shot”
“Aggression Enhancer”
“pet attack”
“pet warp”
“Sanity Recovery Medication”
“yalmaha”

You can put first aid stim on your hotbar, then bind “target self” to the same button in settings.
If you have an enemy or ur bot targeted, and want to heal urself, just press that button twice, and it will heal you and jump right back to the target you had.

You can do the same for “target self” - “sit” – “Health and Nano Recharger”-- “Standard Emergency Treatment Laboratory” in that order
make sure to set the keybinds in that order too otherwise it might not work.
This way it will use the “Health and Nano Recharger” when you are outside combat , and use the “Emergency Treatment Laboratory” to heal you, if your pet has agg. Making it a outside and inside combat heal button.
The aggressiveness trimmer will make the bot take agg more often, giving you more shots at healing yourself during combat.

do the same for another button but with old school tradeskilled “nano recharger”
thats the button you use when you are using bot heals while hiding from Azzy’s line of sight, that way you can heal the bot without getting agg from Azzy.

i personally disable the “Enable camera control x and y axis with left mouse button”
if your camera get sideways, just use numpad 5.

i also like to bind auto-run to the mouse wheel button , instead of move forward.


Killing azzy (safe way)

Warn everyone in the room not to come near the bosses when you are fighting them, they will die, or worse, run away and bug out the boss and he will heal up. If they are too weak to fight him they should leave the arena.
pull exarchs with Aggression Enhancer and kill em
Pull uklesh with Aggression Enhancer and send bot to him 1 sec later.
He might agg the bot halfway to the pillar, when he does hide behind the pillar.
If you hide while you have agg instead of bot , boss will bug out and you try again, also happens when boss runs too far, which is not very far.
hide behind the middle right pillar or middle left, make sure uklesh can’t see you, but your bot can.
Use recondition parts to heal ur bot, and use tradeskilled “nano recharger” and maybe first aid stims to regain nano
If you are in a position where both bot and boss can see you, switch to another pillar, and do so in the beginning of the fight, so if boss does agg you and bug out he doesn’t heal up much.
if you and ur bot are close to a pillar , and boss is also close to pillar but at the other side, your bot can hit through the pillar, making it very easy to hide from the boss while healing ur bot
If a windcaller or whatever aggs you, kill him with your pistols, so you can keep using nano rechargers
Murial the Faithful can actually cast a 10% reflect shield on azzy if she walks by.so kill her asap, using the left pillar as hiding place will make sure she will agg you ,
repeat for all 3 bosses.
Feeble Guardbot will require heals on all bosses, but the 131-cast bot that still listens without wrangle, (80% rule)
that bot will require only heals on azzy.
A bot that requires mochams in order to listen will ofc have no problems at all.
loot all Exarch Robes for turning into sealed passes and Purifying Rods for selling


Killing azzy(fun way)

If you have a bot cast with nanoskill buffs, that still listens when the buffs run out, and on top of that have fixer buffs running. Then you can farm the bosses for a long time, ideal for farming “frozen tears” or “skull of the ancients”.


General fighting

against normal mobs use the aoe blind if you get overwelmed, and use aggression multiplier to pull mobs one at a time


Tough fights

use sanity recovering pills before a tough fight,
use the emergency treatment kits to heal up when bot has agg and you need heals
use first aid stims
if you are still in trouble pop your aoe blind in full agg so you cast it faster, then right after it hits, pull slider to full deff
use the generic “Healing” nano if you still have it.

This forum seems to not copy the correct layout from the text in my computer, so it doen’t look very tidy, but i was getting sick of just having the guide on my computer, might aswell post it , even if it’s messy.

I only glanced through your gear and buff list. Arete quest gives a QL 1 aggression enhancer. ‘Head Skinchip - Temperature Modification’ can be helpful at times. Maybe not for your specific build, but I’ve used them a lot on lower level characters. QL 1, 51, 101 Pepper pistols can be useful, too.

Org contracts and custom towers help a ton, but that’s conditional on belonging to a very active org. Asking to change org contracts can be tricky - I’ve been frustrated by this before.

I’ve a L46 nanomage engie that uses a QL138 warbot and it was pretty easy to build compared to the one you’ve made - but they’re for very different purposes.

Org contract benefits are indeed the hardest thing to get, in fact this character i made without org contracts/item shop nanocans, which makes the build accessible to most people.

Most of my builds are rather “classic”, using typical weapon choices, typical nanoline usage, and typical ip distribution. I rarely do builds focussing only one aspect, like for example max bot lvl / max damage output / max evades / max MC skill NT. I do have a lvl 81 froob NT which is designed to work only with an OST, which means he can use sitdown kits while nuking and thus needs no runspeed/high hp/layers/nanocost gear/nanoregen, and could therefor focus completely on twinking MC skill.
