Since there’s a lot of discontent with the current (and previous) chapters of the Age of War, i’ve put up a guide on Steam on how to download a previous iteration of the game.
As it was the last build with the old combat system, it focuses on Age of Sorcery: Chapter 3.

Please note that it’s not complete, I hope to add some more build id’s from previous chapters and pre-bazaar over the weekend when I have the time.
Mods, as I understand it, will also be unavailable?
I can’t say. 3rd party additions are unpredictable.
Some might retain full function, some partial, some might not work at all.
I once tried to install a standalone version of a game from three years ago. I tried to download versions of mods from that time. Half didn’t work. So in your case, modern mods are unlikely to work on the old version.

Updated, now includes id’s for all previous AoS/AoW chapters as well as the last build prior to the introduction of the ‘new’ Bazaar/Battle Pass system.
You PC players are so damn lucky to be able to do this. Wish we had a similar option for this on console.
