Help me remember- re: painting walls,

I’m not sure why you respond to me this way. I liked your mod very much, and I only said what I said to Tele, which you quoted above, was to answer their question as to what the mod doesn’t do.

You’re right, I came off very bristled. Mostly because of getting triggered by the person claiming my mod is bugged and does nothing. Which is mostly the type of feedback I get, just complaining, false bug reports, and other toxic crap.

And people wonder why so many mod creators quit, or are on the verge of it…

It’s all good. When I saw the Pixelcave showcase, I immediately jumped on Steam to get it and try it out. I can’t say I’ve done that for any other mod. I will most likely use it again when the creative bug bites me.

That’s the job dude. That’s been the job for the 50 years I’ve been a programmer, artist, musician and I hate to break it to you but it’s not likely to change anytime soon. Game, utility or application, custom coding, shareware, freeware, commercial products - all the same: we got our overly grateful fanboys, our silent majority, and our vocal grumps. The most useful BY FAR are our vocal grumps. Of course we know better than them - we designed and wrote it - but they will usually lead you directly to the disconnect whatever it is, so that you can do the best job possible of tailoring and presenting your product appropriately and to-for the widest audience - which is exactly what we should be after.

Pound your fist on your desk at home and in private if you have to but displaying bristle as you called it, only shoots yourself in the foot. When you’re finished pounding ask yourself or the grumps (me in this case) why what was said was said. And I would also advise not jumping to unfounded ridiculous assumptions. Come across as kind and understanding as you can - it’s not even hard because this is all text… With even the tiniest bit of self control you should be able to type sentences like “Hey brother, thankyou for taking a look at our product! It’s very appreciated! If you have the time could you let us know here or in DM why you have come to these conclusions?” - even if you’re actually fuming on the other end. You might also want to erase the woke term “toxic” from your social dictionary as there is no such thing. People don’t do or say things without reason. No one is “toxic” like, ever! Doesn’t exist! People rubbing you the wrong way are not toxic - you just can’t see or agree with their perspective!

In this particular case had you done that, you would not have assumed anyone claimed or said it “does noting” and you might have reconsidered the positioning of the change log. We should be advertising feature additions but the change log should be tucked away and one of the last things people see - hopefully after the product is downloaded or installed.

Yup, it is all good, I agree.

I wonder what people expect from mod authors? Magic? Modding the game means investing a lot of personal time, let alone all the knowlegde that is needed to mod the game. And I will not even start and talk about the creativity aspects.

Even a “buggy” mod often times is better then what the game can offer to you. You act like spoiled kids that do not wear this and that clothes because its not a certain branch instead of beeing thankful to have clothes at all to wear so you do not need to freeze.

Pythagoras is one of the oldest mods for Conan Exiles. I am glad that people are still holding that mod up running and bringing it to live with additions. Back then it offered you not only the beams but also the first weapon racks and armor stands this game has seen. Up until today the armor stands are used by other modders for their own creations. The weapon racks we got ingame today are based of that mod. Without the creator we wouldn´t have them today in the base game. He offered what people wanted the most. The quality of that mod was and still is outstanding.

Instead of nitpicking be thankful for what the modders are offering for free to you. Without the modders this game wouldn´t have become what it is today.

Reposition the…what in the world are you talking about? Its STEAM. The "position " of the change log is static. Im at a loss for words that your "quality feedback " is that i somehow get control of Steams workshop page and change the position, of patch notes.

Also, its patch notes. Congrats on being the first person ive seen to ever complain about someone documeting the changes to their software.

Are you SERIOUSLY complaining about a change log? About patch notes??? Good freaking grief.

Wasnt aware i was getting paid. Should i send you Paypal instructions so that you can send me monthly checks for what the average game designer gets paid?

Tell that to the people who have threatened me with violence and DEMANDED i make mods to their liking and only update when they say so.

Bull. Just, utter, bull.

If anyone is reading this and is thinking of getting into modding. Dont. Conan Community treats their volunteer creators worse then any community ive ever seen by a mile.

No.

You chose this employment model - no one forced you.
Am I grateful? Yes.
Am I going to curb a critique, guess, or remark? No.
Could I be wrong about something or have a misunderstanding? No. never, I’m perfect!

Given your ability to navigate the English language here so far I highly doubt this is at all true. Example:

  • Topic: “painting walls”.
  • Remark: “paint surfaces with textures”
  • Proposal: “Its possible. Use the new pythagoras mod.”
  • Question: “And does that mod even do this at all?”
  • Probable answer: “By reading the page and the change log it looks like not”
  • Better proposal: “Emberlight mentioned in the video, sounds more like what you were talking about. I dunno…”
  • Remark demonstrating the inability to follow or understand simple English: “the person claiming my mod is bugged and does nothing.

And this is so common in almost every thread where you’re voicing a complaint against a user comment or “the community”. You put words in their mouths and then complain about those instead of what was actually meant or said.

Very bad advice and totally untrue.
