Horses follows too close to player. It’s extremely difficult to dismount and kill npcs without the horse taking damage from player weapons.
Steps on how to reproduce issue:
1.Dismount horse
2.attack npcs
3.watch your weapons penetrate npcs and damage horse
4.watch horse die
The idea is you stay on your horse and attack my dude.

If you dismount and not set your horse to stay, he’ll follow and try to engage in the fight in the same manner as a thrall would, which is intentional.
Being able to hurt your followers is also an intentional mechanic of combat, certain weapons and attack animations are more ideal than others when fighting together with companions.
