How can I enable Rcon on my server using the dedicated server launcher?

The Rcon port has forwarded successfully, the option to use Rcon is checked and set to “broadcast”, and the alerts have been set. I am trying to just set up a few alerts prior to the automatic server restart everyday but so far I can’t get it to work. Doe you guys have any insight on this? I have restarted the server after setting the Rcon config but I haven’t shut it down. Is that something that needs to happen?

I am having the same problem in my server. Our RCON used to work just fine, but around the time that you posted this ours stopped working. I am wondering if the most recent update that we had that it caused it to stop working.

Here’s what I have noticed:

  • The message sends properly through the discord webhooks
  • Even though I start the server with the Rcon Enabled box checked and press save, when the server does its restart, the Rcon box will switch to unchecked
  • I have gone into the .ini files which contain Rcon settings and manually typed in the settings for Rcon and messages still do not send in-game
  • Even though the Rcon port says that it doesn’t need to be open in order to be able to send messages in-game if the server is hosted locally, I have the ports open and the port check shows it is green - meaning the ports are functioning and open
  • I tried turning off all firewalls with the ports open and the messages still do not send in-game, only through discord

I seem to be having the exact same issue, I was going to create a “new post” until I saw this post.

In using DedicatedServerLauncher (v1.5.8), I got the discord messages to send, However, I can’t get the "in-game messages (Rcon) to send, I get the following error message in the Launcher Log

Rcon Port is Open (not default), Everything else appears to be working just fine (including the “Web Page”, (which I thought would have “more information”) haha.

Users are logged in and playing, just not getting the Rcon Message. *If I change from Server to Broadcast - It only sends to Discord and not the server. Same with “alert”. It will send to discord but gives the error message of

Server Description:
Branch: Live
Ran from my own PC (Yep it’s strong enough :stuck_out_tongue: )
All ports changed from Default to others and all are “green”
Discord messages work (took me a bit to get those working)
Multihome is NOT checked

In my case it is dedicated server running on another computer in my LAN.
Here, I wish to use the server notifications and message broadcasting thru Pippi but there is like NO information whatsoever to be found on how to actually accomplish this.
DedicatedServerLauncher 1.5.8 only gives the clue that it CAN be sent through Pippi and that it doesn’t need the port 25575 open in router or whatnot since the launcher and ConanSandboxServer.exe are on the same computer.

I have the launcher set to look for updates every 4 hours and it doesn’t seem to work with the 3 warning messages supposed to give notifications that a restart is about to happen.
The “Send” button with a textbox next to it does not work either.
Like he above post, I also actually did open up 25575 for TCP just to see if that was a thing but no change. Still no messages of any kind.

We also have been having the same difficulty with RCON messages not being sent within our server, but working just fine in our discord. We have tried all of the above as well and it still seems to be having issues. Has anyone heard anything about this issue?

Have been running a server for the past year and there’s been NO functional RCON from the DSLauncher throughout the time hosted. The only thing these “messages” do is through the Webhook with Discord.

I KNOW it is possible as there are the alerts in Official servers, and a few others that are hosted on commercial hardware, but I haven’t seen any server using the DSLauncher with any of those alerts/announcements.

You would think that after 2 years this would have been fixed and perhaps updated, isn’t this tool made by someone from Funcom? I know that Funcom is hyper fixated on recommending people use it and expecting those same people to just magically know how to use it.

Additionally, there are features on the tool that still say they’re “experimental” or “might not work” which rather is baffling considering how old it is. I love specifically how if I enabled “multihome” that’s it, it is forever multihome’d regardless of the toggle setting. You have to go through the config and delete the IP address, even though the setting is set to False, it still forces it regardless.

RCON automatically turns itself off at DSLauncher startup, EVERY. TIME. Which is a little more than frustrating. I had to manually add the “Additional Command Line Parameters” of: “-RconEnabled=1 -RconPassword=[NOT SHARING] -RconPort=25575” JUST so that it would stop resetting the RCON settings to default. Even with setting the config to READ ONLY it would change the settings… angy.

So, I have managed to FORCE RCON to work, finally… but that didn’t change anything in regards to announcing IN GAME to players on the server.

ALSO… all these log entries are off by 5 hours, I’m in GMT-6 (US/Canada Central)… ALL LOGS ARE IN GMT-0… ZERO??? Yes I’ve looked everywhere in configs for a timezone setting, there isn’t one.

I can confirm that all of the issues Rafryti mentions above remain issues to date. FunCom, please fix your DSL to work appropriately. Opening an RCON port shouldn’t even be needed for the server to broadcast messages to itself, and it doesn’t work to boot.
