How do you think about Funcom Develop Games with Open World Multiplayer in DUNE Universe?

If FC doesn’t repeat mistakes, their next game will be amazing.
It takes a lot of humility to learn from mistakes, because mistakes must first be recognized.

Now that they can afford pre-production and account for things like character re-customization, mounts, particle effects and projectile system (Sorcery, laser guns) , agile and extensible inventory item infrastructure (so you can modify your gear with modules), dynamic and extensible snap points (so you can have a pet crawl around on your shoulder and loot things for you), add pregnancy ability to females so gender isn’t just superficially visual, their next sandbox game will blow everyone out the water.

I read all the books by Frank Herbert, I played all the Dune games that came out, I watched all the films about this universe, and I look forward to your project with great impatience. God help you.

The dude either got wrecked on an official server or lost something due to decay and is bitter. I figured its best not to take his comments seriously. He thinks he’s a prophet trying to save us from Funcom. There’s not even any evidence he even believes the stuff he says.

On the other hand, you and Halcyon look like someone who just finished to polish their shiny Funcom white-knight armors, and are taking 'em out for a spin.
@Gheazu @Hotaru99 concerns are more than justified, even if bitterly expressed, the lore isn’t exactly a strong point of CE, and in general the game has not been (isn’t) a smooth ride for us players.
But you know, it’s a known thing that somebody like it rough.
Point of view I guess.

Back on topic, I just hope Funcom will rush less the development of this new Dune franchise, since its financial state seems a bit more appropriate right now.
I personally never criticized the artistic part of Funcom games, which I find simply lovely, but frequently they fall very short on the technical aspect, which unfortunately is no small detail.
So my hope for the new Dune game, is to simply have it working properly.

Ah good. Maybe you can help me get into it. Since it was a book my parents read, it was not one I would so much as pick up. Can you give me your take, including the games?

For instance, here’s my synopsis of Conan Exiles: player is stripped of everything, left to die on a cross only to be released by Conan himself. Had Conan not arrived, player would likely have died on the cross either due to sandstorm or thirst, only to spawn in the desert anyway. Yet we have Conan to give exposition, and to effectively challenge us personally with “What will you do, Exile?” prior to his disappearing into the wastelands. And thus you are in a beautiful land with amazing skills, and you’re immortal. How I build, it’s not exactly a shotgun shack. I mean, what more could you want?

Maybe they can add a stillsuit as an upgrade to the waterskin now.

Stillsuits are only for Dune: Day One editions.
You can combine it with your pre-order edition and your steam edition to have a full Fremen set.

If you buy the collectors edition, you can upgrade your waterskin on Conan, in addition to receiving an Atreius flag decorative item.

:studying the Dune wiki: :golfclap: This guy. This guy gets it.

Re: self-explanatory stillsuit. There’s a Bear Grylls joke in there somewhere.

give us infos, please about the dune games

I enjoy the game. So I play it and express my interest in playing it. I don’t see what is weird about that. What I do see weird is someone hanging around who doesn’t. I mean there’s thousands of games to play on steam.

Gheazu hates the game, hates the mechanics, hates the lore, hates the aesthetics, hates the developers, and hates the company. There is literally nothing he likes about the game. Not a damn thing except maybe the fact that it has Conan on the front. I mean if that’s all he’s looking for, I can link him a collection of Frank Frazetta paintings.

There’s nothing here for him. I get it, he feels like he was cheated, he feels scammed, feels let down, and feels like he was strung along. I get that. But dude, sometimes you just got to cut your losses and go. I totally agree with him that he was wronged, maybe things weren’t conveyed in a way that was clear for him. At that point I also agree that he should never ever do business with the company again in the future. He’s not a good customer for Funcom and they’re not a good company for him. Sometimes it just doesn’t work.

This doesn’t mean I’m naive to the problems or white knighting the company. I’ve got nothing invested here, there’s plenty of other things that hold my interest. Hell I took a decent hiatus due to the patch delay to play Everquest. But the thing is, the issues that is here is not a deal breaker, its compatible with my interests, both in how the game operates and how I play it, and with the way the company does business. I don’t feel cheated. I knew the state of the game was when I got into it, and knew what would be coming. And as I said, it was compatible with my interests and understanding. Just because its not good for him, doesn’t mean its not good for me. We’re two different people.

But at the end of the day, he’s going to have to make a choice to accept the game as it is, or not. The game is released. It is what it is. Additions to the game are going to be few and far between outside of DLCs and modded content.

To put it shortly, what I am looking for in the game, I have. What -he- is looking for, I doubt he’ll ever find here. He’s gotta understand that sometime. Or not and stress himself out over it and continue to be goaded by others who simply don’t feel the same way. That’s the poor simple fact of the matter.

I have extreme trouble trying to find a game I will enjoy. The thousands of games on steam don’t equate to thousands I would like. I have very specific criteria to play a game.

However I watch a youtube channel called Neebsgaming. Bunch of middle aged “idiots” playing conan exiles. They are a comedy team and are hopeless at games. After watching a few episodes I felt I just had to get this game. I saw horrible bugs in their game play, and when they asked funcom to help fix the camera so they could get better footage, funcom declined to help them. Bit of a shame as they have a good following and a lot of their members like to play along in the games they play.

I did my research and I knew I was taking a risk. But damn it looked so cool…lol. I don’t regret my decision. Tons of bugs, feels like a fresh beta to me, but its a ton of fun once I added some mods in.

End of the day, its not always easy for some of us to find a fun game. I also need to find something my gf will play as well. So even harder to pick a game. So far I have played 3 games the neebsgaming crew play. Haven’t been disappointing yet.

I think funcom should cater more to the content creators on youtube. Some have huge following and they can make or break a game. When you check their discord or even their comments section, you will see hundreds of people buying this game just because of neebsgaming. I bet tons of other youtube channels bring in even more new players.

Mostly I’m referring to how they’re treating Official servers in general, and PVE specifically, so poorly. I don’t play PVE, so I can’t speak of their experience. The nature of the mode does change how it’s played though.

But in PVE we get no bonus XP or gathering, ever. Server settings that allow our work to get trashed by purge when we aren’t online to defend ourselves. (Not to mention that other clans’ purges can be led to our walls… something I’ve had happen twice recently). No help at all against griefers. And when they up decay timers, the vast majority of the players tell them to just leave them at two weeks- the timers we had for the entire EA period. Do they? Nope. Bluntly, the devs just don’t respect our time.

Dune may not be anything like CE. Not even the same kind of game. But when I can’t trust that the devs have players best interests in mind, it’ll take a lot of scrutiny to convince me to invest more time in anything else that they make.

my impression abourt this?
fix conan exiles AT 100% then fun com can focus on something else

Dune would be a assume game but i don’t think FUNCOM would handed it correctly and it would end up another half broken game in there roster.
