I Know It Was A While Ago, But Why?

I was in the market for some star metal ore, so I grabbed a trusty bow and headed north. Now, I spend a lot of time wandering the snow, so I’ve noticed this before, but I have to ask.

Why do the meteors not smoke anymore? We used to spot them in curious places because of the smoke. Now, it’s a little more difficult when they are imbedded in the side of a mountain. If it’s a render/memory/whatever issue, it was a nice touch that added to the whole “This thing just landed from space and it’s hot”.

I doubt you’ll get a dev response, so perhaps the best answer you can get is that @Xevyr believes the removal was intentional based on what they did to remove it.

What makes you believe that an object penetrating the earths atmosphere, traveling at an average of anywhere between 12-40 km/s and then crashing into the earths crust would be hot?

Removing makes total since. That smoke on 10-15 meteors was killing the server performance. I remember when they removed it. My FPS amd Ping have never had an issue since. It is a steady 15 FPS and 199 ping now. Used to be 14 FPS and 200 ping

I did glue it back on in my meteor mod :man_shrugging:
However @speedice a far easier method of locating them now is the detect resources spell… you’ll see them a mile away even through landscape :stuck_out_tongue:

I would expect the snow around it to be melted away, but

That was my assumption. I just wanted to see if it was the reason.

Thanks, but…
1 - PS5. No mods.
2 - I don’t do any sorcery other than the illusioned armor and weapons. It’s just something that does not interest me.

I had to climb three separate cliff faces to harvest meteors last night. Standing on them while hacking away is fun, especially when they give way for you to fall.
