Or they completely stand there and do absolutely nothing.
Not reading all that but if you want a reference to how strong they should be go look at content before sorcery was added and there’s your answer
There’s a big difference between thralls being too OP and simply becoming dead weight. Now, they feel like dead weight, and poor investment. Balance. Funcom needs to learn what this means . The well trained perk doesn’t apply to thralls unless they are following you. Guarding thralls are too fragile, especially considering their lack of timely response.
The performance of the game can’t support thralls this weak either. Too many things go wrong and that’s when you lose them.
So, the OP is right although he sucks at making his case. Thralls currently are too weak to bother. Either game performance improves, AI improves or thralls need readjustment. That realistically we can only use two or three thralls types, impoverishes the game tremendously.
We all have opinions on how thralls should be and that is ok
I agree that thralls sometimes feels to fragile compared to same as npc’s and other dangerous opponents, but that is mostly because of them sometimes being unresponsive, trying to fist fight, completely missing their target etc.
I consider these things more like bugs and glitches, buffing thralls to make up for such is a poor solution, getting this fixed is a way better solution.
Personally I do not want to go back to having almost invincible thralls that will kill anything for you while you sit back and watch, it is just too boring and not challenging at all.
The past few updates have turned a lot of things upside down and feels quite lacking, bugged and full of glitches, I would much rather see them fix these things than putting a band aid on it by buffing thralls.
Also calling devs and other people that disagree names won’t help at all, it simply won’t solve anything and be just another letting off steam post and likely just turn into a heated argument that won’t be taken serious by those who have the power to do something about it
I hated it when thralls were strong and required for PvE, it absolutely ruined PvP and meant all PvE was just watching your thrall do the fighting.
Insulting Funcom isn’t going to get them to listen to you.
Yupp, I noticed that too.
Yesterday was a day, when I played more than 1 hour straight for a loooog time.
Did some wine cellar runs to get the scythe, using war party.
One of my two slaves ALWAYS just stood there in combat mode, but did not do anything.
Had to command them to move (because you can not spearately command each slave…) so Thag could hit both of them, and then they attacked. For a combo… then one of them stood still again.
THIS.
I can take them out and about just fine and fight most things with limited stupidity.
Purges though, they just die.
If you believe this is a good tactic, you are mistaken.
I get that you are frustrated. The current chapter and the last release, especially, brought back so many bugs and created an environment where mining enjoyment form the game is work.
However, insulting with a broad brush is counter productive. The folks who will see this feedback are not the one making the decisions that cause these issues. And, on the off chance they ever do, your comments will be, rightly, dismissed, as ranting.
There are many things wrong with the game. There have been many poorly considered and disastrously implemented actions. Tantruming will only let those who can make changes ignore your points.
Now, to you “thrall buff” point.
It is inaccurate.
My thralls do considerably more damage and survive much longer in an altercation than I can.
I have my thralls soloing world bosses at level 3, something I would never have done previously.
While I can no longer send a thrall in to attack a mod and harvest iron instead of participating, my thralls survive fine if, and this is the issue, if I don’t let the moronic AI get them killed.
Thrall AI ignores commands to move, to attack, to do anything. Thralls will charge into mobs and then just sit there to die.
The current decision on game focus have gone a long way to suck the fun out of playing. Buffing thralls so that they are unkillable tanks will not solve that, for me.
If it will solve it for you, I suggest exploring mods.
Well said.
same here they just can be used to do some trivial things, knock some folks, help with 1 skull enemies, but more than it is a risk, big bosses is no, purge is a no, they die in seconds, they dont follow the orders and dont keep the positions whe designated, or they stay inert while being killed, or they rush into the mob and get killed in no time, dungeons no , they get lost in dungeons and get now by mobs so esasy, most of time they ignore commands and stand still while mobs attack them. Yesterday i had some purges, the bugged demolisher go throug the doors and started to break the coffer room from inside, while a cim zerk and danlisia stood wathcing he doing the mess. Minutes laterthe zerk was killed by the “defensive” archers, of the purge camp that spawned just a foot of my door step. Seens that the old problem of the purge spawning inside de base, refuses to surrender lol
Back in the day, thralls couldn’t be levelled. They had no perks. The top armor was maybe 900. And thralls died all the time.
The time period you are referring to was when thralls could kill anything while you did nothing. That was a boring game.
I run an agility build with zero points in authority. I give my thrall either salted pork or salted exquisite meat for the 15% bonus to strength or agility damage, and food to increase the perk possibility (Gruel, Fish, or Steak) when leveling. If they are full level, gruel or Lasting Feasts for healing. I can run the Ice Palace with a naked dancer without issue, including dropping down to kill the dragon.
Exactly HOW does it “screw your build”?
Dude, learn to play without thralls.
Take your friends and go without thralls to clear that dungeon.
Conan is 100x better and more fun that way… Thralls are OP and boring.
There is no other game where player is just a bystander and watches NPC complete the game for him. Is this a survival game or some RTS? xD
How can you even die in that game? Few weeks ago I posted here video of my Lian destroying Arena Champion solo while I was AFK… Is there anything more deadly in EL than Arena Champion?
True !!!
These are facts! Although i like that they are a bit fragile and no gods anymore, the AI they have plus the bugs, plus the poor performance, makes them frustration no joy.
I don’t believe that @WaistlessAxe18 don’t know how to fight, or whatever is been claimed in here. Even in single player that the performance is way better than online, the thralls are totally bugged no matter your build. For some reason they will stop fighting and die. I simple corpse will create this situation, in a boss fight with minions, a dead minion will create bug to your thrall and if you loose focus a bit on the fight, then you have to choose who’s life is more valuable.
Yes!!!
That poor .
Like you said MarcosC, there’s no balance at all m8 when it comes to thralls and no fun apparently.
@WaistlessAxe18, fellow exile, i am not trying to play smart here, but let me share my “new” build of lvling thralls please.
Abyssal armor.
Tulwar
Black Bruargh’s fury
Mushashi’s blade.
You are so damn fast, your horse can carry the valuable since it’s a damn trolling tank, you kill like frenzy literally everything on your way and your following thralls are just following thralls, only in boss fights they will give a couple hits, that’s it.
Strength builds are weak now, that’s why they have op weapons!
they had to have more hp like before, or have a better AI, capable to react faster, to dodge, to hit and run, to heal itself, and so on, actually they do two thing, stand still, and die, charge on the mob and die. I understood their point on nerfing the thrall to make the player less dependant on it but just reduce the hp is lazy solution.
Leave them at camp. You always had that option. That’s what I did when I wanted to fight.
Agree. But they can’t improve the AI, it seems. So…
Right. The thing is they over did it.
On pvp, at least since I play this game, thralls were always weak unless they got you by surprise. AI doesn’t stand a chance against a human fighter in this game. Never did.
Agree. They need to find the sweet spot and fix their AI as much as possible.
Exactly. Even as fragile as they are now, the biggest factor for losing thralls is their very rudimentary AI and performance problems. When everything runs as it should, thralls manage and are helpful. I guess we console players suffer the most because of it. This presents its own set of problems. I think in AoS thralls were in a good place and the performance of the game on ps5 was acceptable.
