I was climbing a column in the Unnamed City, gray screened and when I loaded back in I was naked in the Midnight Grove. I don’t have any of the potions. As there’s no way out I removed my bracelet and respawned in my bed. I called my corpse, which luckily returned the one with my gear.
WTF?
Midnight Grove is a random spawn point like other dungeons.
To leave interact with the pool on the ground at the beginning.
How the hell did he end up in the Midnight Grove by climbing a column on the UC?!

Yeah that happened to me once. But I lost all my gear!
I had something similar happen to me, once, years ago when I was just a newbie. The game crashed, and when I got back in, I had spawned somewhere in the north, in a region I had not yet explored.
It hasn’t happened to me since, but I guess it’s not totally impossible that some bug confuses respawn coordinates if you die and are at the same time in the middle of “logging out” (with the game crashing etc.).
So, I assume you fell off the column you were climbing during this disconnection, died, and the game couldn’t decide where to respawn you, so you ended up in a magical place. That shouldn’t happen, of course.
