I'm already disappointed with the new age!

I love that table. Hardened steel is equivalent to star metal as it should be because hardened steel is a real PiA to get vs 1 dragonpowder and you get 10 nodes worth of star metal…enough to last quite some time.

Wow. Thank you for providing the spreadsheet. Those are some wildly erratic changes, I didn’t realise it swung so much

Man, kudos. Always wished I had a head like yours for numbers.

I think, as a generality, hardened steel should be just below star metal (about a point, and that’s it). Black Ice requires Hardened Steel weapons but also requires a tablet and a fight everytime you use the forge. And cannot benefit from a bladesmith. It should definitely be better than both of those. Likewise with obsidian which require Well of Skelos and a fight at the forge if you need more obsidian. I’d say dragonbone maybe between the two, or around there? You don’t need either set of temperature protection for it, and can avoid the fight if you want to learn the set but you do need dragon horn and dragonbone for crafting. You’ll also, likely, come across it sooner than the others. I would say somewhere between hardened steel/starmetal and black ice/obsidian.

First of all, gratitude for this chart.

Secondly, if you have spare time and are willing, could you add weight and durability?
Especially durability is a much more persistent annoyance now.

Also, it should go without saying, but this one finds it patently absurd that Black Ice weapons are downgrades from the Hardened Steel they are crafted from. Hopefully this (amongst other things) is a bug.

Are you seriously added cripple on first hit spear ? Lemurian add double cripple…

When you create your content, can you think a little about the PvP player?
Or you will just keep ignoring us and lost the community ?

Welcome to the Forum. Just to let you know ahead of time there’s a bit of a clash between pve and pvp players due to things that have been nerfed to satisfy pvp players that effect pve players especially solo players this has been a thing for years. Personally have not bothered to see all the stats and such after all until it comes out of beta and his live we won’t know true charges. @dah

No you can’t. Those are bazzar only.

P.S. I wonder how Mad Prophet attire managed to slip through monetization filter.

We europeans find it very amusing that americans have no problem showing all sorts of violence but such theater is made about something natural as nudity.

Nudity is not pornorgraphy. Its not evil to look at a naked body. It will never go into my head. We are living in 2023 folks, 2023. Not in the 15th hundreds.

To be fair, the 1500s weren’t exactly prudish either.
Not until the latter half and the protestant reformation and catholic counter reformation got into full swing.

Coed bathing tool a dive after the Black Death, sure, but that’s because bathing sorta stopped, as the water was accused of opening the pours and letting the plague in.

But of we keep in mind one of the founding groups in the U.S. were Puritans, the current attitudes on, most everything, make sense.

@tin_egg
Credit where credit is due, there is usually an included outfit set with each chapter or so.
We got one of the Acheronian sets, the Ranger set, the aforementioned Mad Prophet. Before that the Skelos Master cultist. This one is probably missing one or two.
The vast majority of new clothes are for sale, but the included content rate of release is a fairly steady trickle.

Correct it isn’t and it isn’t the U.S. that’s the issue. Funcom doesn’t understand how ESRB works because being an EU company they only understand PEGI ratings. So they blocked U.S. based consoles from the full nudity content. We can still get it by changing location settings but we shouldn’t have to do that because of their fears.

Made a new chart for you, since the other would have gotten unwieldy with an additional 4 columns. I used the same items as the above chart which means all the craftable items shown have been made with a Bladesmith and have no fittings. Additionally, I added daggers to the chart, as well as adding in the venom-infused matching pieces, and went back and added them to the damage chart as well.

I’m sorry but this is incorrect, if you’d pay attention it was pitch black only a few in-game hours between the sunset and moon rise, or if you were in the area where the moon was behind trees or mountains so you were essentially in the shadow at night time.

What they’ve shown is essentially character being a dim light bulb and illuminating a small area around them and quite the amount of overall light pollution. Light pollution is a common thing within the town limits and something we are used to, wilderness, however, is not like that at all; and real humans are not light bulbs either.
So no, it’s not a step towards realism, that’s two steps away from it.

Thanks for the continued hard work to provide the rest of us with this information!

As for the adjustments, it looks like they merely doubled the durability of the legendary items after making them unrepairable. Frankly, that’s ridiculous. As someone already pointed out on one of the threads, if I’m gonna run around the Unnamed City using up the durability of my legendaries while grinding the bosses, I would like to bring something home other than some fragments of power, a handful of legendary repair kits (which are nowhere near as useful as they were before this change), and some random garbage (wood, dyes, etc.)

Either the drop rates need to be readjusted, or the whole RNG-gated grind has to be reimagined, or this change needs to be refocused (e.g. the legendaries are not unrepairable but each repair decreases the max durability).

Knowing Funcom, they won’t listen to any of us and will just proceed with the changes as-is. :frowning:

This is a very common misconception borderlining on a prejudicial stereotype. The outfits that Americans wear on an everyday basis is the same if not more revealing than their european counterparts. In my area (which is in a more religious area than most), during the summer I’m willing to wager more skin is being shown on an every day basis than in most if not all european countries unless people commonly walk around the city just plain nude.

When it comes to video games, its literally only 3 companies that are self censoring. Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft. Sony and Nintendo are Japenese. Microsoft is American, but due to being relatively new to video gaming, they just copy everything the other two do.

If you want to make comparisons, look at Steam and Itch, and the content they allow. Now show me a European video game retailer that matches that. Some content on those platforms will send you to jail in other countries for developing or in some cases, purchasing.

Agreed. The pitch black was one of my favorite features. I mostly build in the jungle region which is totally dark at night and makes it very easy to spot incoming players at a distance. The lighting effect will only really benefit trolls who will use it to sow toxicity.

As mentioned before I would like to see more clothing/armor sets that reflect the upper echelons of the cultures in the Conan universe. Examples… nobility, merchants, high priests, royalty, warlords, and soldiers. A few cultures that have been untouched or not expanded upon being Yamatai, Vendhya, Zingaran, Brythunia, and Orphir. Just to name a few but there are many more cultures that have yet to be represented. And stop reskining existing assets, that’s just annoying and lazy.

As far as the changes to weapons and combat, it all seems a bit heavy handed to me. If the intent was to make the NPC’s more of a challange then I have a much better suggestion. “The greatest advisary is not one with great size or strength but rather with great intellect.” NPCs as they are now are dumb and slow with no reaction time and more pauses than action. If NPCs could dodge, climb, perry, and counter with real time reacion then that would significantly increase their difficulty. Not to mention what the mods could do if they had a sense of teamwork and tactics.

I understand the point of “nothing lasts forever” but frankly the AoW changes are a bit overkill. The point was to create replayability foe dungeons and bosses. If that’s the case then those weapons and armors should be the only ones effected by the durability change. In fact I recommend two tiers of legendaries, those from dungeon and boss drops being epic legend and those from skeleton key chests being lesser legends. With the list of chest legends being so long and the RNG being phenomenally unreliable it would be more trouble than they are worth to constantly attempt to replace them.

Lastly for the stamina as I mentioned in another thread. Stamina drain and regen should be determined by the character stats and the type of weapon being used. For example a player in an agility build using a strength weapon would drain stam much faster and regen it much slower aslo movement and attack speed would be reduced. On the opposite spectrum a player with a strength build using an agility weapon would not only take the stam drain and regen draw back but their accuracy and damage would be reduced as well. Basically it goes back to old format of you can’t use a weapon you are not proficient with.

Its not that these companies are self censoring as the content that is censored in said games are not censored in Europe and Asia. They are merely abiding to the regulation of the ESRB which predomanently only effects console games. Unfortunately unlike the rating boards of other countries who regularly update and modify their regulations the ESRB have not updated their regulations since their inception.

ESRB doesn’t have any regulatory authority. Its the private organization. They have as much authority as I do. If companies wanted to consult me instead, they are free to do so (and I’d save them money in the process, just send me a copy and I’ll review it no charge  ) Case in point, Funcom didn’t even go to them to rate Conan Exiles for Steam. The Steam page has no rating on it.

To be entirely fair, it’s self censorship in the same way the motion picture association does.
As in, back in '93, Congress told the industry to regulate itself or it would be regulated by the government. (Inception of the IDSA leading to the ESRB)
It wasn’t until 2011 that Video Games were granted free speech protections.
Protections which do not include anything defined as “obscenity”. With the definition of that left in the aether.

The ESRB is no longer defacto prohibiting nudity or even sexual content. Look at Cyberpunk 2077 - it has full nudity PLUS way more genital customization, AND sex scenes. Only got an M rating in the US, same as half the other games marketed to adults. Meanwhile Funcom still won’t let people see ■■■■■■■ on consoles. A patch to enable full nudity on American consoles wouldn’t affect their ESRB rating one bit.

also lol at the grade-school level euphemism for genitalia I used being censored
