When you target an enemy that is in-range of your pet or thrall(s), and you press ‘E’ to have them attack, that should take priority over whatever rock, shrub or flower that you happen to be standing near.
I’d also like to see the option for some kind of notification in the UI that tells you what NPC you have targeted. I’m not necessarily asking for a full MMO-style target and target-of-target system, but an indicator that the game knows (and so you know the game knows) you’re targeting an NPC that’s in-range of your attacks/commands.
Unfortunately I avoid target lock because it has it’s own host of problems (namely using it can result in “pinwheeling” you into the hitbox of large monsters and get you stuck there). But I’ll see how that works with thralls, thanks for the suggestion.
I just tested this out. The problem is that the ability to target lock something is much shorter than the range at which you can order a thrall or pet to attack. So, you’re still picking up rocks.
yes, “fighting” from the second row becomes difficult, especially since you always have your own thrall in front of your nose when you actually want to lock in the target. for me, this method works perfect
alternatively, you can also set a separate key for command. if the key binding is empty the game use the interaction key.
When I’m leveling thralls, I rarely jump in the thick of things. I just send them in and observe, contemplating the nature of the universe or doing whatever else.
Thanks for the suggestion. That actually works pretty well, I have ‘T’ bound to attack, and ‘(Hold) T’ bound to stop. No need for a push-to-talk key in the era of Discord, so not an important conflict there.
Still would like them to prioritize commands over picking stuff up if you have an enemy targeted, but this is a reasonable workaround.
I’m left-handed so I prefer playing with the arrow keys instead of WASD, so I bind Delete for Interact, and End for Command. I’m reasonably happy with how freely Conan Exiles allows us to keybind things.
