Infinite loading bug when connecting to private server

Basic Info:

Platform: Steam
Issue Type: Other
Game Mode: Online Private
Server Type: PvP
Map: Isle of Siptah
Server Name: Exiles of Dust
Mods: None

Bug Description:

Two weeks ago, I was having no issues connecting to online servers. However, starting a few days ago, when attempting to connect to the private server I have been playing on, the loading bar fills to 100%, but refuses to enter the game. The music continues to play, and the game is not frozen. Sometimes I even have a cursor. It just won’t let me actually enter the world. I will leave it loading for 20-30 minutes at times, but nothing changes, forcing me to eventually ctrl+alt+delete and end the process either through Task Manager or via alt+F4. Occasionally, the game will boot me back to the main menu and give me one of two errors. Either: “Could not connect to server. Your connection to the host has been lost.” Or it will tell me I have a “Bad Service Version” of Battleye. What is weird is I am still able to connect to singleplayer worlds and official servers just fine. I just can’t connect to my friend’s private server. It is a vanilla server, and neither I nor the server have any mods installed. I also do not have any old mods cached in my files. Attempts I have made to fix: Reinstall Conan (didn’t work) Verify game files (didn’t work) Revert to an earlier version of Windows 10 (didn’t work) Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: No other players on the server have reported this issue. It seems to be a problem on my end.

Bug Reproduction:

  1. Launch Conan Exiles. 2) Select online play. 3) Find my server. 4) Click “Join”. 5) Enter password. 6) Suffer.

We have the same problem, though showing a bit differently.

When using “Continue” to enter the game, the connecting screen stays forever sometimes (!). Sometimes the cancel button will not work and it is necessary to use the Task Manager to kill the game. Other times the cancel button works, the player clicks play online, then join our server and it instantly joins. No consistent behavior from one player to the next.

Try this on your end, with your client connected to Steam.
Run a validation of your files and see if that changes anything.
The same issue plagued us with our private/rented server and it seems to be most directly connected to bartenders and a recent movement of a line of code regarding them. I recall our issue began after placing a bartender on his station.
At the suggestion of our host, I ran a validation in Steam on my end.
After that, I was able to log in without any delays and without any “battleye” (Steam side) notification.
So far, this seems to have worked and once I got logged in, I got rid of our bartender just in the case this has something to do with that infinite loading screen.
Something to consider: if you are the only ones with the issue happening, check with the others (if possible) and find out whether or not they have any bartenders.

By moving the bartender elsewhere or by breaking the bond?

I wasn’t going to take any more chances, so I broke the bond.
Previously, before this incident happened we had that bartender sitting on a bench without assigning him. Everything seemed to be fine until we moved him to our new location and placed him at the bar. That’s when it messed things up.

So, on a side note … if you happen to get rid of that one and get another, I’m guessing you can get away with having one sitting around so long as he/she is not assigned to the bar.
At least until this mess gets sorted out.
