so… back again hammering the iron.
why do i need to change back to heaviest first sorting every time i open up the loot of a killed npc? not to mention the selected cell will jump one forward and didnt stay where it was when i used the item.
for some reason i cant remember on this problem before AOW_BUGBAG4
PS: just a bit extra i was experimenting. so this new awesome system remembers the set up sorting / dead body!!! this will take up resorces… also what uses it has? why even set up different sorting for dead bodies that will disappear after a couple mins… are u funboyz even thinking for just a freaking min about what u do? just … just ones think trough… once! i got the idea today to test this and got on the conclusion after like not even 5 min testing! … patience resources running out by me!
Until the next patch, set your inventory to heaviest first. Make sure all other (non-player) inventories are set to “no sorting”. There, now it is manageable.
It’s cool that you like it (seriously, I’m glad that you do), but that misses the point. It’s not an issue for you, but it’s an issue for a lot of other people, and therefore anyone who suggests, “set your inventory to heaviest first” isn’t helping.
Some people prefer Named, some people prefer Heaviest, some people prefer Type - but there are also plenty of people who dislike each of those, so what works for the OP, or what works for me, or what works for you doesn’t mean anything, the point of a good inventory system is that it works well for everyone no matter what their preferences are.
Taking away the Custom sort made the game less enjoyable for a whole lot of people, the current system is inferior to the old system and the only thing that will solve that problem is to bring back Custom.
Not to mention, whatever they did to make these changes is less performant than what it was last patch. When I take off my helmet (because I have to for the Hunt), my inventory and my character completely freezes for a split second while the game thinks about what I asked it to do, then takes off my helmet and immediately puts it back on.
I have less (but not no) issues when using no sorting but the gaps that end up all over the place as I move things around drive me crazy. So I sort to one thing (name, type, heavy), then switch back to no sorting for awhile. Rinse/repeat. Trying to filter to something is basically useless because it doesn’t actually sort to that filter, just greys everything else out so I still have to scroll to find it.
Sometimes I also have to remove a piece of gear because my inventory goes missing. Bits and pieces start becoming invisible and more ends up invisible and more, until I have almost nothing left. Until I take off a piece of armor and suddenly it poofs back into existence (after the aforementioned split second of freezing).
And, speaking of the Hunt, you buy that fancy, lasts-1-minute-on-a-default-decay-server potion and, depending on how you sorted and what you’re carrying, you get to play where’s waldo and hope nothing is invisible and you don’t miss taking it before it times out.
I spend more time, have more issues, and accomplish less than last patch while doing most of the same activities.
It’s completely and utterly inferior to what we had last patch. I don’t know what they were trying to accomplish with the changes but, whatever it was, it wasn’t worth the trouble.
I’m not forcing anybody to take up sorting like the way we explained above. It’s just a small opinion. If it doesn’t work for you, then maybe somebody else will suggest something along the same lines.
I didn’t say you were “forcing” anyone to do anything. And just to be clear, this isn’t your fault, I’m not trying to blame you for something FunCom did.
You were trying to be helpful and offer a workaround that might be good for some people. So I’ll just stop here and say that I respect what you were trying to do.
