The new sort menu option list includes the old HEAVIEST FIRST and NAME options, along with two new options TYPE and NO SORTING. The CUSTOM option has been removed. In my case, and I would suspect a very large number of other players, the CUSTOM option was the most used. I grouped tools, arrows, truncheons and bindings, etc together in groups so they could be rapidly accessed. If you have your inventory organized and hit any of the current options you completely lose the organization. In fact the NO SORTING options seems completely useless as if you donāt care how items are organized any of the other options will suffice. Please replaced this with the CUSTOM option.
I constantly switch between Custom and Heaviest First to give heavy stuff to followers and free up inventory space, this change would be awful T_T
Agreed. Several of us have been complaining about this since we found out about it, and I suspect that there will be many more complaints when the update goes live and other players find out about it. Funcom, on the other hand, apparently consider this change to be so minor that they donāt even bother mentioning it (in patch notes, in Q&A, in any discussion at all) - it has just been swept under the rug.
Doesnāt the NO SORTING function allow you to sort the objects according to your own preference? Like custom?
āNo Sortā is non-persistent - you can manually sort your inventory, but if you change to one of the other options and then switch back, then the sorting is destroyed and has to be done manually all over again.
Understand. This is extremely stupid. One can only hope that this is a bug and that the order of Custom is actually intended to be saved.
This is going to cause huge performance issues with chests tooā¦ Players will be inclined to sort via chest for each item type.
So instead of tool chest it will be tool chest 1 - picks, tool chest 2 - hatchets, so on and so forth.
AoW Chapter 4, brought to you by the same fine folks who have been making Conan worse with every patch!
Problem with NO SORTING is it leaves the inventory in the state it was last in before you hit NO SORTING. For example if you wanted to move the heaviest items you are carrying to your horseās inventory to lighten you load and hit HEAVIEST FIRST to see what are the heaviest items, then hit NO SORTING it stays in the HEAVIEST FIRST order, unlike CUSTOM, which put things back in the order you had selected previously. NO SORTING is really a waste of menu space since you are going to be stuck with what ever order the last selection you made was.
This must be a bugā¦ I think No Sorting is the new custom. Otherwise, this function actually has no right to exist at all.
Agree. It must be an oversight. No sorting should just be a different name for custom. Otherwise itās pointless.
I sure hope this doesnāt remain as a feature at release. I use custom 99.9% of the time with the occasional oops-I-hit-the-wrong-button sort.
This sounds lame. I keep all my head gear up top to swap quickly, then my tools and weapons below that, my consumables after that since theyāll change constantly, and finally any loot that Iām gonna be putting away in storage last. SMHā¦ itās like they donāt know most of us USE the custom sort as a default. Come on @den ā¦ please reconsider this.
Its definitely not a bug.
Its just another not needed change that someone there at funcom need to justify their position at work.
When you think it cannot get any worse. Well another not needed update will be released with more stupid changes.
The bug in this game is funcom itself.
I donāt think it is I think whatās happening there is that they made ACTUAL sortingā¦
Previously the game did not move any inventory items when you used any of the sorting modesā¦ it was exclusively just a sorted view and client-side onlyā¦ basically an illusion to the player that their inventory is sorted (itās why you couldnāt move any of them etc.)
āCustomā was actually your REAL inventory layout, how it actually was stored on the serverā¦
I think what they did is simply sorted the actual inventory items instead of just displaying a sorted version of it to the player so āNo sortingā has nothing to revert back to, since the actual items were reorganizedā¦
Hopefully that makes sense to some degree if you keep in mind that this is a client-server game and most of the important things are centralized on the server (such as what you have in your inventory) then itāll probably make more sense.
Although this is just a suspicion based on these posts, I havenāt paid attention during the short time I tested if you can move them or how they behave otherwise
Sure, it made sense @Xevyr . Perhaps itās that, but, if so, do you see any advantage to the actual sorting (server side) instead of just the illusion of it (client side)?
No, I see a disadvantage maybe enough people would be able to lag the server by repeatedly switching sorting thou I imagine itās pretty fast so negligibleā¦ so I mainly said that as a joke.
I simply think that whoever made the new UI just did it like that
The only advantage I could think of is allowing a one-time sorting and then being able to move items from there on, so there CAN be benefits to itā¦ but not at the cost of removing the custom sorting, so I think if they want to keep this, they should reimplement that to some degree or at least allow items to be exempt from sortingā¦ something to grant the ability to keep certain items in certain slots, especially with the (vanilla) shortcut bar being quite limited, I usually kept gas masks / waterskins / etc. in the top row of my inventory too and used custom mode, only switched to heaviest temporarily when offloading loot.
Itās literally why I made my compactor mod
That is the first thing that popped in my head as well. I sort inventory all the time to unload heavy crap on me and go back to to custom so that I have my tools and stuff at the top again afterwards. No Iām looking at what sort of lag is going to happenā¦ especially if you are doing inventory adjustments while destroying or deconstructing anotherās base?
Wow I think Iām the only one who didnāt use custom sorting!
Iāve been watching some YouTube and Iāve been noticing how much those on windows use special custom sorting. Iām on ps5 and no mouse so thatās probably the difference for me.
Usually I default it to heaviest first so if I accidentally grab something that encumbers me I can look what to lessen or drop first.
Then when Iām organizing stuff into chests, I set my inventory to name sort so that everything I move to the chest is in alpha order.
I always leave the chests at custom. They will be in alpha order just based on how I move stuff in there.
But if I used a mouse then yeah perhaps I would be sorting stuff special in my inventory.
I know I sort stuff special in the workstations and fridges if itās not alpha order. Specialist thralls are top left in workstation if I need to swap them out, ice is always top left in fridges but then alpha order after that.
Does this sort/filter changes have an impact on the chests, fridges, workstations or just the character inventory?
Chests are worse than the plague on PS5, @Cannipals . If you allow me a suggestion, just place a vault in the middle and build your benches around it, facing it. Shared inventory.
Loot wisely. Donāt hoard.
Thank me later.
