Is the bar now "as long as it doesn't break the game"?

Why do so many of us continue to play Conan through disaster after disaster?.

If I had lost a good portion of my stuff to a foundation “fix” I’d have been gone regardless of the booster event. I quit for several months after a purge bug avalanched my base in to oblivion. But after playing a few other games, I came back for sorcery.

Now if they hadn’t have rolled back the thralls I’d have been gone. I had already uninstalled Conan. I’m still playing now because the new loot tables make the game a bit fresher.

funcom knows no matter how bad they muss the bed, we not going to kick them out of it. Even in the shape ch2 is on test, there is no reason for funcom to fix it because it isn’t as bad as the foundation “fix” or the thrall timer. The only issues I’ve found; that haven’t been part of Conan for a while, is crashing moving thralls; can be counted on, and lag build up over time. So ch2 can go out as is because it doesn’t actually break anything. And it’s sad that is the bar now.

I’ve read a couple threads asking what it would take to bring players back, but what would it take to get you to quit?

I’m right there, one more major oops and I’m gone. I might be stubborn to a fault, have hide like leather, but even I have a point where I have had enough. I am a Dune fan, there is one thing that puts me off the new game, funcom is doing it, and I know just what to expect from funcom.

If I still had a PS4. 5 to 10 minutes loads would kill it for me. I only get an hour here and there and so I’m teleporting to get stuff done. If a third of my time is learning not to eat yellow snow, I’m out.

You are part of the problem. As long as people still play regardless of the issues and keep spending in the cash shop nothing will change. I love this game but stopped playing a few months ago, as I simply won’t be part of the direction this game is going. People need to vote with their feet.

As I often say: “Capitalism, you vote with your money.”

I bought the 1st battle pass, haven’t spent a dime since.

Yet here you are :stuck_out_tongue: I’m not active on the forums of any games I’ve quit.

I’d love to see how many uninstalls there were after the latest funcom, I mean mistake. Something got funcom to set a new precedent.

Can understand you.
Was affected by most of the “Oopsies” as well.
Have my own server now where i have constant rates and backups if necessary. Solves most of the issues for me.

But the real problem i see is that the updates are not as polished as they should be. Would prefer if they would take more time. Especially when there is major reworks of core mechanics like purge.
I really FEAR the upcoming update… that’s nothing i can really fix myself.
Would be happy if they would just focus on bugfixes and feed us with some more cosmetics/building dlcs from bazaar or battlepass until the rework of other mechanics are polished for release. Rushed content is not good for the game imo.
Anyway hope the best for the game and the devs.

if they removed the ability to connect to my own server permanently.

Which brings me to my next point:
FC, would love it if FC Live Services was cut out as the middleman between me connecting to the effing server that literally sits 5 feet away from me…

“Age of Sorcery” was a turning point in Conan Exiles that would define the game’s direction. Funcom invested heavily in this drastic change the game underwent, both in promoting it and introducing new features. By examining the game’s changes during the “Age of War,” we can infer what the outcome was. I don’t want to claim to be a guru, but if the key question was, “Is it still worth making significant investments in Conan Exiles?” it seems like the answer became somewhat evident.

I almost did when four different servers I’m on were nailed by the Nemedian glitch. (They all were, I mean my bases.) Instead, it forced me to focus on one and whatever I salvaged was dumped on noobs.

I don’t think I would play if my friends left.

I’m also a Fallout 76 Beta nerd, so Bethesda set my bar incredibly low. (And I still play that too.)

I have to admit I have one foot out the door. I logged into my server last night for all of 5 minutes and then logged back off.

I feel like a lot of changes in this Age have done little to actually progress and add to the gameplay and, instead, have just thrown it in a box and shook it around a little. It’s not fundamentally better or new, it’s just different. Feels like meetings for the sake of meetings: to LOOK productive and point and say “we rebalanced the entire game!” Okay, but why? Changes were made that negatively impact progression (getting a greater wheel of pain). I can at least change that via server settings on private but from a conscious design choice it feels like it was t fully thought out.

The Age has been a letdown. There was more story in AoS than we’ve had at all in Age of War. There was a brand new mechanic that was fleshed out and that impacted different things. For AoW chapter 1, we got coffers that were useless. Chapter 2 is trying to do something with it but, from what I’ve seen, it’s NOT polished, especially for being held back from initial Age release.

I doubt I’d quit playing entirely unless private servers were no longer allowed but I have lost a lot of the excitement and anticipation.
