Is the dog cage functional?

Is this dog cage from the Bazar a functional animal pen or just deco?

Hi there. The Kennel does not have item slots in the way that the Animal pen does, however, you can manually place a pet (or human, if you’re crazy) inside on the guarding position and close the door to make them appear trapped inside.

It takes some careful placing, but it is possible on vanilla without mods to place. I suggest, if you do purchase this item, placing the cage on a level surface for not only the best effect, but the cage itself does not like slopes.
