Game mode: Online Private Type of issue: Fish Traps can’t be placed Server type: PvE Region: EU
From the sea spawn point leads a long river up into the hills. You can’t place any fish traps inside or on the shore of that river. It states “Needs to placed near water”. Drinking from the river and filling your water supply works.
Tried to change height of the traps or switching them around but no chance of placing them. Even ran down and up the river for a while without success.
Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:
If I placed the foundation really close to the surface, I could place the trap, but otherwise, I am also having the same problem. Getting the foundation really close to the surface is hard since it is really hard to tell if you are placing it close to the surface or not. It took several tries, i either placed it too low or too high.

Online PVP, Official Server, the river that runs north/south on the western half of the map does not work for fishtraps, BUT, you go above the waterfall on the north end to where it opens up to more of a lake and they suddenly work. It’s odd that you CAN place them on the shorline, but not actually in the water
Solved. When placing fish trap, I was able to place in shallow river by holding left-shift and rolling my scroll wheel one notch down. Seems the river texture is interfering with the ground collision place default position of fish traps By moving one notch downward, majority of fish trap visible and works fine. Have a number up in different points along western Siptah river.
It’s not working. Trying to place it along the river, the message I get is “Must be placed in water”. Strangely, one would think that river contained water. And scrolling down doesn’t fix it.
Yep, I think because of this issue large well is useless now. Looks like the visible part of the water is now not the same as it’s actual level. Hope the devs will fix it in the next patch.
Fish trap placement in Isle Of Siptah is a bit of a pain.
Even though the trap is submerged in the water it says that it needs to be placed in water even though it clearly is.
I think when fish traps could no longer be placed in large wells it spilled over into the world placement as well. ( this is just a guess on my part. ) placing them ( if it will let you after having to finagle them to be placed if at all. ) is a pain.
I understand this is a new game in the Conan Exiles sires.
However could you please address this issue because before you can place fish traps with no problems.
This has been reported a couple of time and acknowledged; they’re looking into it.
For the moment at least, you need to find a deeper body of water. As a guideline, the NW river in the old map doesn’t work. You need to use the lake at Riversend or the northern “ice” river.
I’m on official PVE & haven’t had any problems placing traps - mine are in a shallow river.
There’s other players with large fishing stations so I assume they aren’t having problems either.
FYI - I put all mine atop foundations, all the other large ones i’ve come across are on foundations too.
Not trying to say you aren’t having problems, server to server and player to player can be so different. Just wanted you to know that it doesn’t appear to be across the whole game (which kind of sounds worse now like a “it’s not me, it’s you” - sorry )

I went to move some enhanced fish traps to a new location. It says ‘Must be placed in water’. This is when I am standing in knee deep water in a lake or river. Also, used to be able to place them in a large well. Can no longer do this.

i´m having the same issue, i try to put a fish trap and it says “must be placed in water”, the same thing, i can drink the water, i can fill waterskin but can´t place the fish trap. I tried the middle of the river and the border of it, same result.
